That doesn’t tell the whole story though, for example one of those games was the 5-0 thrashing of united, another was the Athleti game where we were already 2-0 when they had a player sent off. The other game was the away game against Athleti but we still won that game. Can’t remember the other.

The big disappointment was the Chelsea game.

Or put anything in. The aim was always to grow us and sell at some point, recent valuations are pushing $3b, a better rate of return on their £300m than they'll get anywhere else.

The sell to spend model is worrying and where all of our current problems come from. With a squad lacking numbers in real world class talent, it means we'll have to sell one of our top players with value in order to replace them. That means its going to be very difficult to build a squad with enough depth as your pretty much replacing like for like. We've done it once, but the market looks really difficult now with top youngsters going for ridiculously high fees to the usual suspects and some sides just exploiting loopholes, Chelsea for example have 21 players out on loan.

The only players I see with enough potential value to fund a decent incoming transfer who haven't really performed for some time is Mane and.... VVD (only on the basis that I don't think we'll see him reach the pre injury heights of form due to his age and the injury itself). Another to a lesser extent (as in having a lesser value) is Firmino.

They're probably seeing Salah as the only player we have which would fund a couple of BIG incoming transfers, but they know we'd all go crackers if they sold him on.

Our owners won't put their hands in their pockets so we have to accept that a few of our regular faces will have to be sold in the summer, that's the reality.

To be fair to bobby he did what he does, draws players out for other to run in to, aswel as joining up the play.

problem last night was that no one ran in to the holes he created; thats not his fault it's down to jota, taki, hendeson, milner (who was by far the worst player on the pitch)

It was so painful to watch. It highlighted just how thin our squad is. Quality wise anyway.

Yep this is true for the most part. They are not takers of big dividends etc like say the owners of Man U.

Their way to make money off of the club is to increase the value until it's value hits whatever number they cannot say no to an offer of.

Probably not the day to be saying it, but they have been pretty good owners for the most part and certainly from a running of the club POV. In any other era, other than one with Oil states and the like floating about distorting things, they would be getting lauded as a model for how the financial side of a football club should be run.

At the same time, I do wish we looked like getting some fresh blood in though even it were the getting of a few players that would cost less due to being close to the end of their current contracts at their clubs.

Not sure why it took so long for us to realise that playing with width might be a good idea? We looked much better with Jones (who I thought looked dangerous) and Neco hugging the touchline. Sadly it was all too little, too late

I said in the Minamino thread I don't think the forwards really had a role, we had 3 forwards who all wanted to play through the middle. It feels like that forward line was picked because they are our only available forwards. Mane and Salah go wide and help the full backs even if the come inside alot. The front three last night weren't going into wide areas at all.

I think for the remaining games with the guys away at the ACN we need to play Jota as the main man and get a system working that gets the best out of him, personally I think that probably involves at least one of Firmino and Minamino on the bench with someone like Jones in the front 3 and Origi if he's fit, if he isn't not sure who should play there.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Yeah Jota up top, Bobby in a proper 10 role, Jones left & Gordon (prob too early) or Ox right side.

                    Fab +1 in the centre

                      Grim viewing last night.

Our setpieces were garbage - and what's happened to our preCovid ability to score some easy goals from corners?! I can't remember Virg getting his head on our offensive corners this season.

Oddly i saw a stat we were joint top scorers from corners (8) this season. Seems a long time since the last one

was just about to post that; weird isn't it as when watching i have no expectation that we will score

Total ****e - Klopp needs to sort this!

Why were there no runners on the flanks? So many opportunities to slip a ball inside the full backs but no takers.

Man City score 50% of their goals this way!

Mental stat given what feels like the last thirty corners I've seen haven't even cleared the first defender. Robbo and Trent are both well off it with corners. Bring back McAllilster and Bellamy. Hell, even Kuyt's corners were special by comparison...

Agree it feels like an eternity since we scored a CB header from a corner
