I hope this is bollocks and it falls through. Lucas had just won pretty much all of us over again (how many times has he done this? He's so resilient), and the vast majority of supporters love him for it.
I'll be right pissed off if he's going. It jeopardises the fragile recovery we had going.

Lucas has been excellent since coming back into the team. He's getting sharper with every game & starting to work well with Henderson. The backline also look better with him infront.
It just doesn't make sense why we'd sanction this deal at this stage in the season, especially with how fragile we've been defensively & the fact that we are now starting to see a bit of cohesion and balance in there.

I am starting to think you have an agenda with Lucas...Originally posted by Kenneth View PostIt's a gamble of sorts, but Lucas isn't the player he has been anymore. He seems crucial to us because when we played without a proper DCM we were ****ing ****e and when we play with one we function better, but I'm not convinced most of that is the individual brilliance of Lucas. He's an intelligent player positionally but needs to be because he's really slow.
I couldn't really care about fees (£5, 7m, 10m, not my money) so I'm not too worried about losing someone who would be a squad player if we had a well balanced squad.
So based upon our current team who would you have in our holding DM role if he goes? Allen or Stevie? The thoughts are depressing, as the squad is Not balanced when those two play in that position... I thought with 3 at the back(with Can in that libero role) and hendo and Lucas in the middle we had solidarity

If you are of the opinion that Matic is currently the best defensive midfielder in the Premier League this season, then statistically, Lucas is trying to match him stride-for-stride.Originally posted by poorscousertommy View PostThe Assaidi deal is a great one for us.
I will totally lose faith (not that I have much) in Rodgers defensive abilities.
It is very obvious to all how much better we are defensively with him in the side.
Pretty sure his stats for tackles won is up there with the best DMs in the league.
In 20 Premier League games, Matic has won 58 tackles, made 44 interceptions and won 31 aerial duels. In just over half those games (11), Lucas has made 28 tackles, 23 interceptions and won 23 aerial duels. Even if you compared the more adventurous aspects of the game, Lucas still compares favourably with key passes and pass completion. Those statistics (Lucas') also compare with Fernando who has played four games more (with only Fernando's pass completion being superior).
But how does he compare to Fabian Delph? I hear you cry ... literally.
Well, Delph matches Lucas' number of games, so to recap: Lucas in 11 games, has made 28 tackles, 23 interceptions and won 23 aerial duels. Lucas has also made 6 key passes with a pass completion of 85%. Delph rocks up in 11 games and has made 10 tackles, made 14 interceptions and won 5 aerial duels. Going forward, he's made 11 key passes and matches Lucas' pass completion, goals scored and number of assists (zero).

Sounds just like a Rogers signing then.
