Really? You think so? Like what?

(not being arsey - genuinely interested)

I think he's been fantastic on TV, getting better all the time. His insight is very good and he speaks very well and honestly. I know a lot of United fans, living where I do, who ****ing hated him for years - just like us with Neville - and they've all practically got hard-ons for him now. Prevailing view among United fans is Neville tries too hard to be seen as neutral (I don't agree) and that Carragher calls stuff, particularly re United, more accurately and with more insight. They love him. He did an interview with United We Stand recently too which was very good.

I confess to getting a bit pissed off with Carragher at the back end of the Benitez era. The whole dodgy-as-**** £100k a contract stuff with Purslow. I thought he put himself before the club....but looking back I guess he was just looking after himself and you can't argue too much with that.

I love the way he speaks about Liverpool now. He cares, he gets it, he's got bollocks and he knows what he's talking about. You sense too many in power at the club now don't care enough or certainly don't have the bollocks. We could use him in some capacity at the club.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I think Carra has been brilliant on the TV, really grown into the role.

I think he's a cracking pundit. Some chelsea knuckledraggers down here go on about how they can't understand him, but they're morons. Most of the lads that can read like him.

Is someone really taking the piss out of a scouse accent on a Liverpool forum?
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

What's wrong with accents? Especially a Liverpool one? Accents are by and large great. And Carragher is class on Sky.

What? He's a world class pundit, easily the best in Europe and has been for some time!!!

Carra was spot on about winning trophies and sterling not turning up. In order to win trophies you have to put the effort in.

It seems that the new way to win trophies is to sign for city or Chelsea, sit on the bench, make the minimum amount of appearances and get a medal. I'd be dissatisfied if I was in that position.

I am sure the 150,000 a week wage would ensure that you were not to upset though.

I totally agree, his mask has slipped big time. He's still a very good and engaging pundit but his bias has become very apparent. When Carragher is biased he has a laugh about it and it's all out in the open, whereas Neville dresses his up as serious and honest opinion when it's clearly total bias.

Neville is utter scum, no doubt about that. Shaggy is right, the mask has slipped bigtime, this cunt on the Utd games is ****ing unbearable, he's a dreadful commentator at the best of times! An ok pundit. Hopefully Carra knocks him clean out in a vicious assault on TV sometime.

Well without wanting to derail the thread........nothing major, nothing related to Liverpool or how we're operating (he's actually being on the ball regarding recent issues, especially most recently) and certainly nothing personal, though, like yourself, that contract scenario wasn't his finest hour by any means (but, frankly, I've heard enough about Liverpool contracts these days, so cannot be arsed getting into it again).
He's a decent pundit, similar to Neville, even if both sometimes fall into 'after-the-fact' analysis, rather than offering a genuine tactical approach to defending whereby they'd actually be suggesting a chance in defensive attitude for whichever team they're currently laying into. i.e. 'He shouldn't be running out like that to the forward looking to lay off the ball' etc etc - duh! Yeah of course he shouldn't, because he lost the challenge and conceded the chance.......what about the other times when he won the ball and got singled out for praise for his defending. It was the ****ing right thing to do then ! It's obvious, rather than complex.
I think its part of the reason I'm not 100% convinced players doing the pundit job would automatically make great coaches, defensive or otherwise - and TBH, I don't think either have made a convincing argument around how the game should be played or their philosophy behind the makeup of a team. Maybe being unfair, as they do offer a view of the individual's thought process well, and among a sea of clowns on Sky, they're more than competent.

That's not the reason why I've found myself rolling my eyes recently though with Carra.....just some of his observations regarding peno decisions, contact in the box etc etc. Just ****e, because I don't agree with them.
