At least the club has seen this and hopefully will be the same for Henderson and Sterling ,

I would like to see them stay , especially with Gerard calling it a day , otherwise we will have loads of player movement again ,

This is the problem with the media frenzy isn't it.
With Sturridge you see 140k a week banded around as fact.
You also see stated as fact that all lfc contracts are heavily incentivised, well surely the 140k includes the incentives because if that's the basic and the incentives on top are games and goals based, add in bonuses for top 4, cup success etc... then god help us.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

They wouldnt have to do the rough stuff today, they'd just get straight on with the football side of things

I dont think either of those 3 players would have been sent off any more than Gerrard has been

Plus Souness had a massive ego on the pitch that was backed by immense self belief/confidence. There were few if any players that he regarded as being a peer when he was on the pitch with them, and he had the talent to back up his self belief.

Souness in the modern game would have been regularly on various best inb the world lists, and am struggling to think of many midfielders over the past 20 years in the English league who at their peak would have come close to a peak Souness.

Roy Keane or Patrick Viera would have matched Souness for some qualities but he would have been streets ahead of them in others.

Glenn Hoddle, Xabi Alonso, Paul Scholes and Michael Ballack all had aspects of their game that could challenge those of Souness but again Souness had some much more as a very high quality all rounder.

Then when we look past the physical and skillful qualities that Souness have, we get to his win at all cost mindset (a la Suarez) and his ability to both lead a team and defend his team.

Awesome awesome player in his day, and if not for the giving of that interview and, to a lesser degree his spell as manager here, he would be held in even higher esteem as a club legend.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Very well put. Souness was the driving force, the ultimate beef.

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Looks like he is about to sign for 5 years at £100k pw.

Good news. We just need to stop playing him wing back.

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson is close to agreeing a new £100,000-a-week five-year deal with the club.
Henderson, 24, is likely to take over as captain when Steven Gerrard leaves Anfield at the end of the season for Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy.
The former Sunderland player is expected to sign the new contract this week - ending months of talks.
The England international joined Liverpool from the Black Cats in 2011 in a deal worth around £20m.
Vice captain Henderson's current deal would have expired at the end of next season but with Gerrard moving to the USA in June, the former Sunderland midfielder is seen as the future.
Henderson has scored seven goals in 55 appearances for the Reds this season.

Not worth £100k a week IMO. Good news though.

unfortunately with the influx of new TV money you'll find a lot of players earning more than what they're worth
What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

This is good news. A bit of continuity is a good thing, particularly if we need to strengthen a number of other positions.

It's a priority to us panicking fans as we don't have all the info and it's ramped up by the media.

I think before the end of the season (i.e before the summer silly season and less than 12 months left) it'll be announced that he's signed a new long term deal.

No other logical explanation as to why we'd leave it this late, there isn't anything coming from our end at having to sell if he doesn't sign, it's all quiet (as it should be) that tells me that we aren't panicking about it.

No panicking or public positioning = we'll offer him what he'll accept to sign.

Well that post worked out well

It is something he needs to add to his game.
