      Well said that man.

henderson... its all about his potential blah blah....

if you ran your own business and took on a trainee, someone with promise. knowing he isnt the finished article, and ready to go would you stick him straight into the front line and see if he sinks or swims...
would you stand by and watch the company [team] get dragged down by the lack of savvy of the new boy.

would it not be better to train him up, maybe give him some work experience elsewhere so it doesnt effect the end result of the business[team].

i am not saying he wont become a useful player for , although i am certainly unconvinced. i am saying i dont think he is there yet. if we were interested in buying him now would people still think he is ready to go out there and tough it out as one of our main midfielders...

Don't understand your point(s) baitman. Firstly, its not the trainee's fault he's been given the RBS 'Delete' switch. That's his boss's shortcoming (sorry Kenny).

Secondly, we bought him not ready for the first team (i.e. potential) LAST season. If he were available now, we would buy for potential THIS season. Nothing's changed there.
          One tit for another.

ok mate. so if we buy him this season for his potential, would we stick him straight into the mix at the possible expense of results, league form, points, and final league position, just so we can train him up to standard.

btw, im not trying to be abrasive, just trying to create some healthy debate

No we wouldn't stick him in. Just like we shouldn't have last season (and that was solely Kenny's fault). Hopefully B-Rod will use him more effectively - and I don't mean on the right wing.

Lucas wouldn't be the player he is now without playing so much when he was clearly not upto the job in the early days.

And the biggest thing for me that I’ve heard about Jordan is his attitude. He has got an incredible attitude. If you have got a player like that who has got the ability and the thirst to learn - he can run all day, he is physically good, he is strong, he is quick – and you can remodel him, you can end up getting the value you paid for the player
Something I wondered after reading Brendan talking about Henderson. Does this point to the possibility of him starting to train him in another role? Lucas role for example?

possibly, however i actually think that Jordans defensive game is currently better than his attacking one making him closer to a lucas sort of player already than say a stevie g, i thought he was just highlighting the versatile potential hendo has.

Henderson needs to improve mentally, better reading of the game will come with experience and should enable him to conserve energy so he eventually doesn't need to scramble fervently around the field in defence. Confidence to be more selfish around the box and to make sure he doesn't go missing in games and he will be great.

He always looks to pass and presses enthusiastically (although sometimes a bit like a headless chicken) in defence so he should have a huge part to play in Rodgers future plans.

i like henderson a lot and barring any major injuries or mental aberrations he will be a top player for us. In fact that trio of lucas henderson and shelvey looks the business and all below 24.

Outstanding in that central midfield role, moving into pockets of space, making some excellent passes and really using the space available. Reluctant to call it the holding role, because that wasn't his job last night, but he really seemed to thrive in that area of the pitch anyway.

A valuable squad player. His biggest asset in this team is his ability to release the ball quickly and he showed he can come in and do a very good job when required. Has his work cut out to break into the team but he will keep our other CM's on their toes and that can only be a good thing.
