I'd like to see Henderson coming in for Shelvey now that he's suspended, and Allen being pushed further up the pitch.

I don't mind Henderson TBH, but I'm glad someone pulled him on Lucas. Talking nonsense.

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Lucas was *never* ****. He's always had the tools, he's just improved all the time.

Still not convinced about Henderson as the more defensive midfielder (although I do like him generally), but I'm also keen to see Allen able to get further forward. He looks really good on his rare forays.

really cannot see us trying allen further forward without lucas as the DM.

                hendo as DM...

LIVERPOOL boss Brendan Rodgers has challenged Jordan Henderson to use tonight’s Capital One Cup tie at West Brom to stake a claim for regular action.

The 22-year-old midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield. And Rodgers said: “It is about the balance in the team. We have got one controlling midfielder in Joe Allen. We have got Steven Gerrard, who is a great player and speaks for himself. He has got a goal in him, he has got influence and he has got stature. He carries his qualities on the field.

“But Jordan is working his socks off every day. He has got a great appetite to learn, he lives his life right and he doesn’t do stupid things off the pitch. It is games like this that offer me the opportunity to see him. Can he affect the game going forward but play with that tactical discipline?”

Glad the manager thinks he is good enough. But I cant stop thinking back to the fact he was offered to Fulham.

I like the lad. He suffered terribly last season being played out of position & with a clueless manager. I don't know how he'll fit into BR's set up but I hope he does well.

                      How's that my blessed friend.

its good that brendan is giving him a game, and even better he is making sure that henderson knows that the manager has gone public with a statement saying he needs to prove his worth. this may shake henderson out of his just do enough, but dont break a sweat type of attitude.

lets hope he delivers. onwards and upwards, eh

There's something about Rodgers' honesty, which initially put me off during the summer with the Carroll saga, that I'm starting to like. Players know where they stand, and they know what they need to do to jump ahead in the pecking order. If they're not in his plans, they're gone, if they're unhappy with their role, they're shipped out.

I think that long term, transparency is a good thing.

i agree, but he could easily be saying that to henderson in front of the rest of the lads at training, then repeat it to him privately, asking for a special showing to prove his long term worth to the team.

i dont like the idea of brendan feeling the need to go public with everything

Not like Ged who shipped players out or dropped them to reserves without telling the players why or what thy needed to work on.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
