I dont agree he can do the DM role. He has a lot of energy and can get around the pitch most of the game. Limiting him to shielding the back 4 would detriment him IMO.

He could probably do the job, but at a cost to his overall game.

I cannot see him in a holding role at all.

I think he played well against Stoke. His movement was incisive and linked areas of the pitch which have been a problem for us at times. If he learns to finish I think he will play a bit part for us this season.

Yes. Still missing something though. Never felt he was going to score but did well to get into the positions.

i think (certainly at time i posted it) i was the only person who listed him in my three MOM candidates

he did a very good job for us in a midfield that i feel lacks a bit of bite - whilst i am not saying he's exactly what we need - he certainly gives us the energy and mobilty that no one else in the squad quite gives us at the moment.

Gerrard can't be charging about, and lucas covers well and does a good job but has never been a charger...i've felt that we've missed a Momo/Mascher type player from the squad and henderson provided some of what they brought on Saturday.

He pressed highly, he covered for coutinho when he floated about, he got in the box giving us an option, he got back when needed.

for that he will always get in ahead of Allen.

I think that for me - if we sign an extra forward, we will see something like this

for 'less physical games/when at home looking to blitz teams'

and then when needed, we have the option in tighter/physical games then we may see henderson brought in to the middle to give us that little bit extra and then we have a nice situation where we have four top players/couple of decent squad players fighting to be starting in one of the three front positions.

Was one of the stars for me. Unlucky not to score and his energy really helps our game. He is also showing that he is no longer overawed playing for us.

For some here it's the name Gerrard on his back. Seriously the guy is really settling in and is a very strong player for us now.

I reckon he'll be a 10 goal a season midfielder before long.
