I’m not sure it did, like the squaring up to Costa, the geeing up of the crowd etc etc, it all just had that little bit of cringe to it. Still, a generally positive guy.

Never the best player on the pitch, not the extravagant continental name fans swoon over, nor the showboating skill player but always gave his all for the team. He knew he was bound to be replaced for someone younger. Wish him the best and without him our midfield may well take a while to settle.

I think he embodied the values of the club incredibly well, he bridged the gap from us being **** to good. And the intangibles that are so ****ing important in success, he was good at those. A leader.
