If Ibe could be developed into a centre forward with his natural strength and atheleticism i think he could be similar to sturridge, IF his finishing improved it would give us better options in a few years time.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

Tried to find a post I’d written about a year ago suggesting similar, but no idea what thread it’s in. They tried playing Ibe up front for the reserves a few years ago and I was hoping he’d develop in that position as I thought he’d have more chance of breaking through, but for whatever reason it was short lived and he was soon back on the wing. Last year they player Dunn and Peterson up front who IMO would be less suited than Ibe, so I’d be curious to know why.Originally posted by Corndog View PostIf Ibe could be developed into a centre forward with his natural strength and atheleticism i think he could be similar to sturridge, IF his finishing improved it would give us better options in a few years time.
Obviously reserve football is about developing players rather than winning games, so there is no point in reading too much into any decisions, but I did genuinely find it strange he didn’t get more of a run out at CF when we were short in numbers. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

, it does seem very hard in general to produce forwards who are genuinely as good in either position up front. Thats why i thought the move for Remy was a positive one.

Who knows though, maybe that falling through will work in Ibe's favour the same was as Sterling benefitted from us not signing anybody in January. Not ideal obviously, but I'll not be throwing myself off any bridges if we don't get in a big money replacement. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I think with the league cup and champions league programme it would be worth keeping him until the new year at least and see how he copes with some proper competative games for us. He would hopefully have enough game time with all the additional games we will have until thenStatistics are like bikinis. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital.
