They do like doing things on the cheap. Cheap young manager, new stand instead of the new stadium, biggest earners leaving, losing sterling, replacing a £70m striker with a £16m one. Sure, they spend money but there is no bold plan, more of a keep things ticking over strategy.
Tbh i did expect a more hands on approach, but the much maligned oligarch at Chavski spends far more time at his club than any of our owners do here.
Give me a caring Oligarch any day.

I think Brendan will also be told to get last summers signings to work. A big part of remit was to develop talented young players but he seems to have given up on last summers signings far too easily and used them as an excuse for the **** served up last season.Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Always, keep your face to the sun, and shadows will fall behind you.

It's what Henry made his money from. It's no real surprise in terms of the stadium tbh however they also know to maximise their ROI they do need success on the pitch, I don't think you can argue that they've not spent decent money on trying to do so but the targeting of the players to do so has so far been poor.

They've also not deviated from what they've said at the outset, they want to make the money that the club generates available for new signings of which they've done.
All the talk in the press about what's going to happen is guess work, if they're not happy with things or certain personnel they'll change them, it doesn't mean however this will be played out in public and why would it be.

If we got Champions league every year they would make the money available to us to buy players. I look at Arsenal and how they can add a big money player each year now and look to be getting fairly strong again. Still dont think they will win the league.
I think Rodgers is staying to be fair. As much as I would prefer a change, I think he is staying. Sigh.

We're not Barca or Bayern, we can't pull something like that off unless, like last season, everything clicks into place. And even last year we were letting in lot of goals, and with this seasons evidence that our defenders struggle with no natural DM infront of them, i think it'd be wise to for once play peop!e in their natural positions. And Kovačić at DM woild bs no mor e effective than Joe Allen. But if played further up the pich with more freedom to his game he might be a brilliant playerOriginally posted by foresterbloke View PostNo, he's a playmaker which is the area Gerrard occupied last season to great effect.Jürgen Klopp

If he does stay, I just hope he learns. By that I mean learns about how the things he says get taken, and come back to bite you. I dont think he is arrogant, but its easy to see how people get their back up when he makes some of the comments he has. The whole - we should be 5th, thats par, and then failing to achieve par, finishing 6th is just beyond belief.Originally posted by RichC View PostYeah I think he's staying as well for the time being anyway. Seems par for the course for us is seen as 5th based on squad/wages and if so for me BR will have to go under par this season and get a top 4 finish if not then he'll be gone.
I also like to measure how happy those around me who support other teams would be if we keep the manager. All of them are jumping for joy at us keeping Rodgers, which tells me they dont see us as any kind of threat.
Many are concerned we have a shout with Klopp. Not saying he is the answer, but it does tell you a bit about how we are seen outside of our Liverpool viewpoint.

To be honest I don't even think we would have needed a top striker, just a decent one who suited our system. Which kind of feeds into your next point, last season we had a system that we wanted to play, this seasons mess seems to have resulted in us throwing that out of the window and who knows what the plan is now. That is the thing that worries me most, if we don't know how we are going to play, it will come down to blind luck as to whether we make the right signings. Benteke has all the hallmarks of a Balotelli mk2 simply because I don't think he would suit our system.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostIt's a difficult situation.
I think the prime failure for this season was a failure go try and get key targets signed early doors. Actually, that's partly lies. We did get them done early, we just signed the wrong type early.
A replacement for Suarez was essential, but for me that wasn't recognised by the club. Tbh I can accept that mistakes can be made. The whole set up is brand new and it was bound to have mistakes along the way.
We can debate this season all day, but for me, if we signed a top striker we'd have finished top 4. But it's not going to be so easy next season. So we need a massive improvement.
What we need this summer is an excellent transfer window. The main worry leads me onto the next reason we failed this season. I just don't think Rodgers knows what he wants. Or if he does, he seems incapable of making it work.
And tbh, my main issue with the club has now moved away from the transfer business, and onto how our manager sets up his team. Because despite being dealt a bad hand, that hand should've still been played better than it was.
If I was generous I would say no more than three Basel players would have got into our team to play in the Champions League games. Yet they beat us. Ridiculous. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

said in another thread we were a fit sturridge away from a champions league place this season.....
But yes Benteke is a million miles away from what we need imo oif ew are going to continue the fast flowing football that brought us so much joy. We need to find a Suarez/Sanchez I am sure there are a few players out there who are not the finished article but i would much prefer seeing a player with those attributes than having a big man up front.
I Just worry Brendan is over thinking things now and cant see Benteke bringing out the best out of our curretn squad_____________________________________
Weak willed, Wank or do they have a masterplan?
Think we have the answer..Slot!!
