No, that's not why they had the meeting.

They had the meeting because its company policy to have a meeting to review the season, at the end of every season.

Liverpool news: Brendan Rodgers stays at Anfield after crunch talks
Liverpool FC manager given go-ahead to revive Anfield club's fortunes after holding pivotal talks with Fenway Sports Group to explain poor season

          By Chris Bascombe
          6:30PM BST 02 Jun 2015

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has been given the go-ahead to revive his and the club’s fortunes next season following talks with his hierarchy.

Rodgers met chairman Tom Werner and Fenway Sports Group President Michael Gordon on Tuesday where – as expected – the primary focus was how to reshape the side to achieve his targets next season, formulating a ‘comprehensive plan for improvement’. After two hours of talks it was confirmed Rodgers remains in charge, although it remains to be seen if there will be any changes to personnel behind the scenes.

Beyond the clarity on Rodgers' position, no details regarding Liverpool’s plan of action have been revealed at this stage, but the club wants to return to the Champions League and get back to the stylish, attacking football that led to a title challenge in 2014. Rodgers will certainly be backed with several new signings in order to achieve those ambitions.

The conversations with Werner – who flew to England on Monday - have been described as ‘positive, good and productive’ with Liverpool reiterating Rodgers’ position as manager was never on the agenda – the club has delivered that message consistently despite a disappointing campaign.

Rodgers spoke openly after Liverpool’s calamitous final day to defeat to Stoke City, admitting it was inevitable serious questions would be asked about his role, but even then his bosses moved to quell suggestions the outcome of an end-of-season review would end in dismissal.

Privately, club sources persistently dismissed claims Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti were under consideration to replace Rodgers.

Although Rodgers will have faced some difficult questions regarding Liverpool’s underperformance, the will remains to see him continue and develop as a coach at Anfield.

Rodgers can now press ahead securing reinforcements with deals for James Milner and Danny Ings agreed in principle. Providing there are no late hitches, both will officially join the club on July 1.

Liverpool will also try to secure the signatures of Christian Benteke and Nathaniel Clyne, but are braced for a summer of resisting several bids for winger Raheem Sterling.

Werner has several departmental meetings to attend for the rest of the week, ahead of attending the Premier League shareholders meeting in London this Thursday.

I didn't say anything about why they had the meeting - we all know why they had the meeting. It's what they discussed in the meeting.

When I had all my trouble with the club a journalist told me "You'd be amazed at how 'back of a fag packet' it all is at LFC" and I think he's not far wrong. You expect these seriously sophisticated, high level talks...and the reality I think is quite different. I mean, they only had a two hour meeting. You'd think it'd take practically all day to properly discuss everything that needed discussing.

Ah well it's done now, we'd better get behind him. I fear for him though - he's under an unnatural amount of pressure and the first sign that it's not going well next season and it will be toxic. Mid-season changes aren't ideal either.

It might be because Rodgers speaks regularly with Mike Gordon apparently and the first part of the review meeting with him was last week.

                      What trouble was this?

I imagine they'll be having more discussions, if you're the boss you don't troop over for two hours, you get the manager to fly to Boston!

BTW can someone edit that damned picture? Its ****ing up my browser window!

Most companies are the same behind the scenes.

As you have said before, it's all bull****. And smoke and mirrors to the outside world.

There's a few people I know on here who work in the same industry as me, and I'd be surprised if any of them disagree with my second paragraph regarding how things are done behind the scenes.

It's egotistical, shambolic bull**** across the board.
                        Oh I don't know.

That's how it all comes across in pretty much everything that the club does. I echo what I said after the Stoke game. We've become a shell of what we once were. Too many wannabes desperate to make a name for themselves when in reality, the club is run and staffed by infants of the game, who have little grasp on what it takes to elevate us back to the higher echelons of the game. The owners and the managers have their theories, and we're just the guinea pigs until they stumble on something that works. In the meantime, we're fed with buzzwords and phrases to keep us happy and believing folk are doing good things, while we're sleepwalking far away from where we want to be.

Cue deja vu next June terrible decision in my opinion the club has no balls anymore and are quite happy to piss about talking the talk about being in the business of winning trophies etc but in reality a 5th or 6th place suits them

My concern is, if he is to stay on and it's a last chance saloon sort of thing, then I predict a ****ing dreadful start to the season.

Rodgers clearly struggled getting the players going for two thirds of last season.....too the point where it just looks like they won't play for him. If that is the case then it's going to be an uphill battle for Rodgers to get these guys going......if they don't like him and know it's last change saloon then they won't play for him, a poor start and he will be sacked.
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do
