    Redknapp isn't far wrong really.

Our squad depth is the best it's been in a long time and we have some good players who we can call upon, but our starting eleven is pretty bland. Take out Coutinho and Sturridge and we have a lot of good and steady players but that's it.

Sterling leaving us has weakened us, short to medium term. Unless someone like Firmino can kick on straight away, which isn't really gonna happen.

Sterling's pressing, wing play and speed on the counter, was crucial to us.
      Are we winning?

...not forgetting that Andy Cole finishing ratio of 1 goal: 100 shots...

He's a bit simple, 'Arry, but sometimes you need that honest, simple opinion and he's not far off.

I know that but I think he was our top goalscorer last season - I may be wrong, but was at the top of our list.

My biggest gripe, is that after the time he's had, i still don't feel like the manager has built a spine to the side yet, and our strategy seems wishy washy because of it.

By now, when opponents face LFC, they should know without any shadow of a doubt that a fight is what they'll get, 90plus minutes of hard tackles; skill and energy, because of certain players who are regulars in our side; that guarantee that (almost) every single game.

                  Big time

We're a soft side really. I know I keep mentioning it, but I really find it's true, but we only beat teams that don't turn up on the day and it's not down to us stifling them. It's just literally because they're not playing well/making unforced errors etc...

If we played Newcastle away next week, my heart would say "yeah we should be able to get a result there...this is Liverpool Football Club" but the reality of it is that we could lose 3 or 4 nil these days.

So I wondered* what he makes of all of Fergie's 'flukey' and sometimes downright cheating last minute undeserved wins that have propelled him to the best manager in England ever tag in Redknapp's eyes?

*Not really. He's a soundbite man and I don't usually care what he thinks.

Just had a gander at some other forums and, wow, there is some pure vitriol there for the manager. Part of it to do with performances and partly because of the post-match spiel.

Sorry to say it, but I think he will be a goner soon unless there's some minor miracle akin to turning water into wine.

On paper the side looks decent, but I don't think we have the right players to get an effective formation on a consistent basis. IMO the team is very hard working but lacking in spark and pace, Coutinho is really the only creative player in the side, and there are two 'problems' with his game (in relation to our set up), 1) he lacks pace, 2) he doesn't get into the box enough. If he is playing as a No 10 he needs to get close to Benteke, if he is just going to play through balls and not get in the box we need him to play a regular midfield role and put someone in the No 10 position who will get in the box and support Benteke Firmino could be the best option.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Anyone else heard rumors that Firmino was a committee signing ?

Of course he was, if he wasn't on MOTD last season how could Rodgers have picked him

that's hardly classed as a minor miracle!!!

It might still be harder to turn Dejan Lovren into a footballer though!!
