We're a much better "asset" now that they've got the wage-bill under control, I'm sure that's what was putting people off. However there's now the fact that the "brand" has weakened with so many seasons without the Champion's League money and exposure.

If FSG were to be sold, a sugar daddy wouldn't make sense with the new FFP guidelines... our best bet would be someone with incredible marketing ties who could legitimately increase the clubs income, generate more money to spend, etc... to allow for squad improvements.

But the FFP guidelines are already full of loopholes (sponsorship is still exempt so anyone could sponser themselves like City effectively did), so I'd still say there's still room for a sugardaddy at LFC.

Not going to happen in reality though is it!

Well not really... but those loopholes are (supposedly) still being monitored to ensure that sponsorship deals are at market value. So, if you get a contract with an airline worth £200M over 5 years and all the previous ones were only worth £100M over 10 years - that supposedly flags up and is scrutinised.

City's deal wasn't worth that much money in the end, the majority of the investment was for their youth and community projects rather than the first team.

As I said to you yesterday - the Premier League is the worst thing to happen to Liverpool in recent years simply because we were so unprepared for a new football era driven by money. Parry and Moores were so oblivious to the marketing side and allowed us to suffer the repercussions decades later while everyone else embraced the change and strived for more income - we just sat idly by scratching our former-championship-winning balls.

With the FFP agreement signed sealed and delivered it makes us even less of an attractive proposition for a potential Sheikh Mansour type investor. It looks like we are going to have to do it the really hard way, and the fear is that we will fall too far behind to amke it work.

The public sale of tickets for the Swansea game is a worrying development, but does not surprise me. I maintain that all our resources should be pumped into the team until we get it right on the pitch, then we should be looking at increased capacity or a new stadium. No point having a 60,000 Anfield with only 40,000 people in it.

It's pretty sad that Moores couldn't muster the 100m we needed in his day to build a new stadium. We've probably wasted double that since he sold us. I detest the guy for selling us out to H&G for an extra £8m

We wouldn't have been much better off with DiC - they're not all they appear, look at their takeover of Travelodge.

Despite what happened to DIC I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that we would be in a far better place right now if they had taken over. Moores and Parry basically ****ed up the very future of this club IMO.

So what if DIC were going to sell after 7 years? Their plan was to build the stadium, increase revenues and sell at a profit. Only a dumb sh*t would be worried about that. I hate Mihir Bose as well as Moores and Parry. Bose gave the alleged scoop but think he was mates with Gillett. Parry for allegedly being very clued up acted like a total dimwit.

Was totally gutted when DIC pulled out of the bid. Knew there were going to be some dark days ahead and we were proved right

Also, if a sugar daddy was going to buy us, they would have bought us when FSG did. Cheap deal. Nothing more happening on that front

There is absolutely NO proof whatsoever that DiC would've held up any of their promises either, people just look at them and go all gooey-eyed because of how bad H&G were.

Just because the eventual owners were so bad doesn't mean that other prospective bidders were instantly great.

Sameer Al Ansari is a massive Liverpool fan and he was heading up the takeover. No way on earth that he would have done anything but good for us. Not a single doubt in my mind at all.

And as Sarb said, this 7 year plan...so what?!! Brilliant, in 7 years we would have had a new stadium and a team to match. If they sold us on to FSG or someone after that, doesn't matter really.

Just because he's a fan doesn't mean they wouldn't have still bought us using a leveraged buyout and crippled the club with debt.

David Moores is a massive fan too. I'm sure he wanted the best for the club. And I'm pretty sure a day doesn't go by when he doesn't have massive regrets around the outcome of his actions.
                          Oh I don't know.

I believe the 7 year plan leak was an official DIC document on our purchase. Maktoum was well into us and was why he also tried to buy Gillett out too after they'd bought us. Dropped a massive b*llock with that whole affair in all honesty.

Well the so-called apology he made in the Echo a time after wasn't much of an apology was it. More feeling sorry for himself and having a go at people who criticised him. He pocketed extra from the deal with H&G and there aren't many other conclusions to draw from that really

I have less ill-feeling towards Moores than Parry, I get the impression that Moores sold to what he genuinely thought was the best bid for the club in order to take it forward as he knew he'd come as far as he could.

I blame Parry for pulling the wool over his eyes.
