They want to win IMO. They're just not very good.

I wouldn't say I agree with everything but I don't think what Bubba says is garbage at all.

He's spot on in many points. Everyone says the buck stops at the the Manager, which is fair enough, but let's be honest who would want to work for us under the current constraint and do much better then Rodgers?

Let's say we got Klopp, what's he going to do? We now have a bunch of mediocre players and we are no better than a mid table club.

We've gone from a team that we said was just one or two star players short during the Benitez era to a team that doesn't have a single star player in it. Some say Coutinho is a star player and I believe he will be but he's not yet. Who else do we have? No one.

How much of that is Rodgers fault, the 'committees' fault or the owners I don't know but with a net spend of £20m to £30m and a revolving door of mediocre players coming in and out to show for it then it's no wonder we have no settled team, strategy or vision.

The buying policies and restrictions are being set by the owners so I blame them as much as Rodgers. Unless they change the 'building' strategy no Manager is going to make much difference with tactical tinkering.

The Manager is the face of the club and I'm now firmly in the out camp. Unfortunately for him he's got to take the can for the mess that's been made by a mixture of his and the owners incompetence and poor strategy.

But their is absolutely no point in firing him and replacing him with someone like Klopp unless the owners are willing to burn the flawed plan they have and write a new one.

Don't disagree with many bits of that, but, the model of buying in talent and bringing them through is a good one. Once you have the base you should only need to add 1 or 2 players and that's where we have gone wrong.

But plenty other managers get ten times what Rodgers does out of squads a tenth of the cost.

Rodgers has spent a fortune on players. And there's enough young & talented players to bring in that would allow us to build a top side. The big criticism id level is the transfer committe, but he was given free reign in the summer & that hasn't gone too well has it?

As for levels of spending, we were under investigation for nearly breaking the FIFA Fair Play restrictions on spending.

How did they buy in with the Suarez deal already in the bag??

They bought in during the September or October and the Suarez deal was done in January

Incidentally wasn't it Comolli who FSG appointed that set up that entire deal

I think they have made errors and continue to do so on the football side of things but not crediting them for the signing of Suarez seems churlish

            The squads inbalanced imo

It doesn't suit Rodgers ideal system that's for certain

There are so ok players in the squad but getting a system that works with the right blend will be tough

I don't think he knows what his ideal system is.

The Chelsea situation is not helping. Last seasons champions sat where they are, on the back of another defeat. The guys over in Boston are probably looking on thinking mourihno is being given time and he won the league, he's doing worse than Brendan, lets not make any rash decisions. Meanwhile Roman will be in talks with klopp and we'll miss out.

Maybe it will all make sense when Sturridge comes back but at the moment I cant see what were trying to do.

Anybody else want to raise these guys as to who called it first or can we just move on to talking about the pros and cons of changing a manager so early in the season and what Rodgers can do - if anything - to stop the rot?

                        Is this right

                        3 against West Ham.
                        3 against Palace.
                        3 against United, twice.
                        4 against Arsenal.
                        6 against Stoke
This within the last 12 league games?

You conveniently cut out half the post where I also sais he deserves more time to fix this. You cannot back the manager in the summer and get rid of him after 2 bad results.

We need to sit tight and see where we are after 10 league games.

It wasn't convenient as it took more time then I would have liked.

You should just have said Rodgers needs more time and gone about your post. Starting a sentence with 'I was amongst one of the first posters' is just self-fiving to the max.

Graeme Souness and Jamie Carragher question Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers' tactics

                              13/09/15 8:29am

Sky Sports pundits Graeme Souness and Jamie Carragher questioned Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers’ tactics as his side lost 3-1 to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Rodgers' starting line-up against United saw Danny Ings and Roberto Firmino played out in wide positions and the former Liverpool players believe playing some of the current crop out of position is not helping performances.

Souness thinks Rodgers is handing his players an excuse by not playing them in their usual positions.

"The first thing you have to do with players is make them feel comfortable in positions they're playing in," Souness told Sky Sports.

"Firmino doesn't want to be out there. On the other side Ings doesn't want to be there. Right away they've got an excuse: 'This is not my position, I'm not used to it'.

"Ings spent most of that half running towards his own goal. He would class himself as a striker, he doesn't want to be doing that. What Firmino is I'm not quite sure, we might see that as the season pans out.

He added: "You've got square pegs in round holes and it just doesn't work. You have to make people feel they are playing in positions they are happy to play in and Liverpool haven't got that right now.

"They need goals. You won't always play well, but if you've got goalscorers it camouflages a multitude of sins and Liverpool have got to come up with a system.

"I think they have to sit the players down. They all know what their favourite positions are and he must know he's asking players to play out of position and I don't think some of them are very comfortable with that.

"You're handing them a big excuse."

Carragher believes Christian Benteke is not getting enough help in attack in the system Liverpool are playing at the moment.

The former Liverpool defender called for Rodgers to go back to playing two strikers up front rather than sticking with the current 4-3-3 formation.

He told Sky Sports: "There's not enough help for Benteke,

"Ings came in and I said before the game it must be two up front and they must be playing a diamond formation, but they were still playing 4-3-3.

"I don't understand what the point was in playing Danny Ings in that wide position. He didn't give the support to Benteke.

"You think about how many strikers Liverpool have on the books and they have no wide players. They've only got Jordon Ibe. Firmino is not a wide player and Coutinho played there last week and he's not a wide player.

"I don't understand this obsession with playing 4-3-3. Brendan Rodgers came to the club wanting to play 4-3-3 and it didn't work.

"The great season they had was with two strikers and how they got them into the team is down to the manager. They've got a lot of strikers, no wide players, and he continues to play 4-3-3."

Carra absolutely bang on. We don't have the players to play 4-3-3.

It was more along the lines of now more than ever we need to back Rodgers and see whether he can turn this around. Yes I wanted him out and I remain unconvinced about him but him and the team need our support. we have 3 softish games coming up so things could change quickly.
