I don't think anyone cares about his silence per se, its more that people feel that there has to be a reason for the change. People tend to want to fill the void of ignorance with a narrative.

For all we know Rodgers got bored of taking **** for everything he said and decided to have a nice break from the media attention. Or perhaps FSG have cut his tongue out as part of a new non-verbal communication strategy.
