Yeah, there are holes in my theory.

I'm sure Rodgers will still put forward a list of names he wants, but I'm clutching at straws. I wonder if Rodgers is going for an all new style of play?

He could well be but if he is you are not the only one clutching at straws . Whats the better option, find a striker or two that fit how we played in our best season with him or rip the whole thing up and find loads of players to make us play some other way.

I still think that Rodgers is a decent manager, the problem is the side seems to do well or badly in patches, look at this season: the first 12 games of the season we picked up 14 points from a possible 36 (W4, D2, L6) which is dire, in the middle of the season we put together a run of 10 wins and 2 draws out of 12. We then finished the season with 8 points from 9 games (W2, D2, L5). Last season at our peak we managed 14 wins and 2 draws from 16 games.

The question for me is what happens that we can go from title winning form to relegation form overnight? The good runs are no fluke and show that Rodgers is a capable manager, but likewise the bad runs are no fluke either, if Rodgers were able to turn the feeling in the squad around and go on another good run after a poor result he's a manager that is capable of taking us places, if not that will be his downfall perhaps more so than transfer dealings.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

LFC assessing manager options before season review. Klopp one of them. Rodgers may v well survive but LFC seeing who's out there.

Wow, some leftfield thinking there from Jonathan. Didn't see that one coming

                Beckenbauer: 'Klopp to Napoli!'

                By Football Italia staff

Jurgen Klopp will be the next Coach of Napoli after Rafa Benitez goes to Real Madrid, claims Franz Beckenbauer.

“Next season Klopp will be training in the South of Italy, at Napoli,” German legend Beckenbauer told Sky Sport Deutschland.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager had been named as one of the likely candidates, but only if the Partenopei snatch third place from Lazio this evening.

That would put them in the preliminary round of the Champions League with a considerably bigger budget.

Other alternatives are Sampdoria’s Sinisa Mihajlovic, Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Montella and Unai Emery of Sevilla.

The other is as just as sure that Rodgers is safe, Michael Gordon is batting for him and nothing is likely to happen.

Maybe FSG's thinking has been muddied by FFP relaxation, no point having an expensive clear out if you're intending to sell?

Andy Heaton ‏@Andrew_Heaton 27m27 minutes ago
Essentially, FSG have 3 options. 1) Get in an arms race with City and Chelsea. 2) Retain ownership of a stagnant/depreciating asset. 3) Sell

On the main stand shout. A new 'trophy' owner would more than likely build a new stadium. Regardless of Anfield expansion.

Reasons for doing it fairly straightforward, easy to push through a convoluted petro dollar funded naming rights deal on a new stadium

Naming right for the existing stadium relatively worthless as it will always be referred to as Anfield.

Right, off this now. And as I said, just my thoughts on the matter having been privy to a small degree in another Football non-LFC deal.

It's an interesting point, and one worth analysing. I think there are some differences in the different runs. The start of this season was bad tactics and lack of appropriate players. The bad run at the end seemed like bad emotional management of the FA cup/Gerrard leaving situation.

A lot of these things seem like part of a learning curve. The question is how fast is Rodgers learning. A big question for me in the post-season review would be if he is willing to take on more support. He clearly needs it and the requirement is greater than ever having lost Caragher, Suarez and now Gerrard who were the experienced leaders and winners in the dressing room.
