There is a difference between a coach and a manager, there are lots of people who have done great jobs as a coach or as an assistant manager but haven't worked out managing a club on their own. I don't think we hould worry too much about O'Driscoll's record as a manager as that won't be what he is doing here.

I have seen this quote in a couple of paper today which is attributed to Rodgers a couple of years ago:

Look at Sean O’Driscoll. He is one of the best coaches I have ever come across. He has never had a chance in the top flight. His teams were expressive, had movement, they were technical, but he will probably never get a chance at a higher level.

So it seems at least that Rodgers rates him

This is hilarious, pages and pages of debate on whether a fella with a dodgy track record of managing lower league clubs has earned his chance at the age of 57 to get involved with a top Premier league club.

Of course he hasn't. It's a joke of an appointment. Would Chelsea, United, Arsenal or City have ever entertained taking on a sacked former manager of Doncaster or Bristol City? Would they ****. Its a ridiculous, ambitionless appointment and he'll probably be gone in a few months.

Niger Pearson is available for the assistant's role. He's got top level experience and having managed in the Premier League he'd be well respected by the players. That's the criteria, right?

People need to untwist their panies .... most of us in reality know **** all about football, or what happens in our club or any other club for that matter, we all claim to know this about that player .. or that about this manager but truth is until we are linked with a player of a manager we are totally clueless. Take Klopp, how many the 1000s and 1000s of fans clamoring for him to join have actually ever seen one of his teams play, I bet no one can tell you who he managed before BD. People talk incessantly about Bdog doing things this way because this aspect of his personality or that, truth is, you don't know the man, you probably do not understand his tactics, you have never met a single footballer in your life, half of you have never kicked a ball, some of you have not even been to a live game ever. None of you have taking your coaching badges, most of you are out of shape. O'Driscoll has been appointed, our manager rates him very highly as do quite a lot of other people in the game, you dont get to coach the National Side my accident, otherwise you or your mate who's won the Champions Lg with watfrod on CM Manger would get asked to interview. Obviously the owners are going after young adventurous attack minded managers ..and thats AOK with me ... the season we have a few years ago, was the best fun I had as a Liverpool in an extremely long time, we were literally in the top 5 most exciting teams across europe ... I couple of signings .. one I think has already happened with Firmino ... and we can be back to that flare pacey creative goal focused team of 2 years ago ... I for one think O'Driscoll looks like a very good appointment ... I really like the look of the new coaching staff

E.g I lived in Germany last year so I actually did see a fair bit of firmino. Fwiw I think it's a good signing but that he is in danger of being overhyped. Didn't wanna rain on the parade though as I did that when people were creaming themselves over Alberto who nobody knew.
Klopp came from Mainz, he brought gundogan with him. His team was having the DM slot between the CBs and having the wing backs bomb on at least a season or two before LFC did so in the nearly title winners season.
So it's not true we don't know these things. Although a cynic would say I could have looked all that up on the internet

I love me some Hyberbole .... point is .. lets see how this guy does ... we are all primed to fly off the handle when something does not happen just the way we wanted it ... So far this season we have signed Milner, Firmino and Clyne, got rid of two backroom staff who did not look up to it and replaced them with the England U 19 manager a manager known for his attacking mentality and excellence working with young players and the other fella, who again is known for his tactical excellence, working with young players and attacking preference, our stadium is also being expanded .... some old players who were first 11 have left .... I am very very happy with that

Um, seems to me that they didn't give up possession, made the opposition work hard and waited for an opening which resulted in a freekick in a dangerous position. Or did I watch the wrong video?

Brian Kidd is probably the most well known but they all have high profile managers. We have neither.

Don't think it matters to be honest, they'll be a success and carry on or a failure and be replaced just like any other pairing.
