It's about who's the most clairvoyant of us isn't it? Thing is we don't know, nobody knows what's going to happen. What we are seeing is excellent signs but some inconsistencies at the same time, which were bound to happen anyway. The road to get back to the top will be long unless we start throwing silly money around.

Bender's Drragon.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

And how do you work that out exactly? This would be a team that finished 8th last year, was arguably weakened in the summer, only has one striker, has been forced to play several kids at once in numerous games this year etc. On paper our first XI looks competitive but the league is about squad far more than first XI, and ours is very light. Not to mention that some of our fans vastly overrate some of our players... players who have demonstrated over the last 3 1/2 seasons and 4 managers that they are obviously lacking somewhat.Originally posted by Bender View Postwith our strongest XI we should be top 6 and playing well/consistent ........I could not dig, I dared not rob:

I think people look at the points we drop, in games we should have won on the balance of play, look at where we are in the league, and say...if we'd only beaten Villa..or whoever...and we should have if we......Originally posted by MrMichael View PostAnd how do you work that out exactly? Liverpool and Rogers have been very lucky in the fact that most others team around us are incredibly inconsistent too. And therefore the difference between being in the champions as oppose to being relegated is only 12 points.
Two more wins on the bounce and LFC could be only few points away from the champs league spots & on the flip side two losses in a row and we could be right down at the relegation zone. 7 points away from the champs league spots and 7 points away from the relegation zone... tis a strange scenario.
It is what it is at the moment, everyone knows where our weaknesses lie & positions that we need to fix. Few more weeks and the January market is open for business, what i'm hoping is that with our so called easier run of games we can get some good results and push up the table. If we are in a good position come January, potential targets may look at us and think we look an attractive option once again.
The option or notion that a team is realistically challenging for champs league footie every season seems such a massive draw and IMO is the difference between getting a good player... and getting a top class player.
Anyways Rogers has some big decisions to make as regards personnel and tactics. Until the window opens we have to get Lucas match fit, get Suarez scoring again, get Sterling focused again & keep LFC in the hunt for 4th spot. That January transfer window is an opportunity for progress, huge pressure and expectation on Rogers to fix problems that even we can see.
Hope Rogers and LFC scouts have been doing their homework.

Am not convinced by any aspect of the club at the moment - be it manager, owners , or team. I am not sure what direction we are going in with the manager, believe fsg are here to make money and the plaYers simply are not good enough for a club that is supposedly one of the biggest in the world. We're trialing managers when we should have the best out there . The club stinks of amateurism.Substance > Style

You don't have to be consistent to get top 6. Quite the opposite in fact. But you do need to win more than half of your games though. We are currently not doing that.Originally posted by Bender View Postwith our strongest XI we should be top 6 and playing well/consistent ........Oh I don't know.

You can't have a strongest 11 with only 11 strong players. To have a strong 11 you need a strong 15. You need good players on the bench to add the extra bit of pressure to the players on the pitch. We don't have that and certain players currently know they are "un-subable". This is a big problem for us.Originally posted by Vermilion View PostIf Lucas is in our strongest 11, then we've not been playing our strongest 11 for a while.

Unfortunately, they have some say in that. FSG know things have gone badly and I think they intended last summer to be the start of a different direction. They appointment a manager they liked with the intention of giving him plenty of time to slowly develop a team and a way of playing. They know they don't have the money to back him properly from the off so see it as a project over a couple of years or more. What we were doing wasn't working, even with an experienced manager that most fans were delighted about. I think it's a good thing.Originally posted by ronanm View PostAm not convinced by any aspect of the club at the moment - be it manager, owners , or team. Has been for a while, but we seem to be having trouble signing players that are consistently good enough to walk into our strongest 11/15 and stay there on merit, rather than having to play them as we have noone better.Originally posted by kingfunk View PostYou can't have a strongest 11 with only 11 strong players. Next signings need to improve us on the pitch, they must.

I hope Brendan gets it right I really do. But coming from the Kenny shouldn't have been sacked camp, I am looking on and thinking was it really worth it?
Have to cling to the 'long game' reasoning.
People should not be so vocal after a loss or a win. If you wanted him, you should still have faith, if you believed his tongue of bull****, you still should, if you didn't want him you have ammo to fire freely.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde
