With the vital Champs league game vs Basel & then the United game coming up... it could really be make or break for Rodgers. We got 2 wins recently but we really did scrape them, not convincing at all & fooling nobody. Obviously the results are the key but sometimes you see a team playing well and just not getting the results or rub of the green. With us, we really just haven't played well all season. One very good display vs Spurs & few okish ones here and there. For the most part though we've looked really poor.

Took Rodgers way too much time to address the Gerrard at DM issue IMO. He seems to finally have sorted that but was so slow to address it. I think he knew it was a problem..he surely had to because everyone could see it... but seems he was being stubborn about it. Same with the walking disaster that is Lovren...Rodgers bigged him up being the organiser etc & said he bought him for his specific attributes.. turns out he has none of those attributes. So either Rodgers our our scouting team didn't exactly scout him properly, which is worrying.

There has been a real lack of urgency in addressing problem areas & the one up front issue is still being persisted with. We've looked toothless all season & we've played both Baloteli & Lambert in roles that they aren't used to. Balotelli has been a disaster & Lambert has been ok of late after a nightmare start... still though neither are suited to playing as a lone striker & for the most part are left isolated up top.

Another issue for me is the keeper, be interesting to see if we recruit another GK in January.

That is at the bottom of the list for me. I think we had a more solid and effective unit in front of him that Mignolet is good enough to at least see the season out. I would not want to see us pump millions into a new keeper and then fall short in getting a striker, a midfielder, and maybe a defender.

The most important one for me is the striker. Next on the list for me if we had the cash after getting a striker would be a quality midfielder with preference towards a quality deep playmaker who can also defend and organise a la Strootman.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

        3. Rafa, my support for him waned near the end of his career when we just weren't pushing on to the next level. But now we're not even in CL contention we may need to him to get us back there again. That's my realism hat on.

If none of the above then keep Rodgers, I enjoy his fluid play too much to see him gone. If only he could magically fix his defensive and player-purchasing blind spots.
We're 2 points behind Arsenal on the same games. I think it will boil down to either us or them for 4th this season. United will probably sew up 3rd despite being in transition this season and I doubt Southampton and West Ham will continue their good form.

Going by recent history you'd have to favour the Gunners but if we can sign a scoring striker in January it could be nip and tuck between these two clubs all the way to the end of this weird season

I don't disagree, I suppose it comes down to how much money Rodgers is given in January. If we show signs of progression in the league and are still in the champions league knock outs... he may get funds.

If we get knocked out of the champs league & are still languishing around mid table after spending a small fortune in the summer.... i wouldn't be surprised if he gets the bullet or FSG don't give him much money & we see a make the best of what you have attitude. And to be honest you would completely see where they were coming from with some of the dross we've bought under Rodgers.

We'll win tomorrow but we won't beat United.

A draw and loss methinks. Hope I'm wrong though.

I'm stating the obvious here and possibly Fake Pabbing myself out. Lose these two matches and Rodgers is history

Yup he surely wouldn't and couldn't survive after that. Even getting knocked out tonight of champs league will heap the pressure on him.

I really dont see us getting knocked out tonight, unless we play proper negative ****e and get hit with a flukey goal

I don't think we'll win either of the next 2 games. draw and a loss i predict, and then the pressure really starts on Brendan.

Is there any point in sacking him mid season though?

At least he's finally changed the make-up of the team so we're not the adject embarrassment we were during that 4 game losing streak in November

Probably not. If we're out of the CL and out of contention to for top four then we may as well coast until the end of the season with te squad we have and reassess in the summer. The either back him or sack him then.

I'd say yes if we don't qualify for the next round. Out of Champions League, out of title race, realistically not going to get into top 4. May as well get rid now and give the next manager half a season to get used to the team and league before next season, rather than sacking at the end of the season and next year being a write off while new guy finds his feet

I would prefer if they'd sack everyone who was involved in Balotelli coming. You just couldnt get any stupider with that move. And just for ****s and giggles Lovren too.
