...which was a mistake, as was bringing on Borini instead of Markovic. Also shouldn't have left Manquillo out, shouldn't have moved Henderson out of centre mid. Today's shambles is all on him IMO.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Buy by bringing Gerrard in he had to drip Manqillo, move Hendo out of position and partner Gerrard with Lucas. So it may just have been 1 change, but it reukted in a complete reshuffle and it was obvious it did work. Yet expect us to okay with that team in the next league match

That's all that was needed to completely discard all the good work/progress made over the last few weeks. Gerrard doesn't suit the style of play that had been working for us, he's too slow and old now.

The midfield was not broken, in fact the Swansea game (and Spurs away) was the best we've played this season.

Toure for Skrtel was enough, fiddle about and rest players vs Wimbledon.
He’s here! I *know* he’s here! That’s him, I’m telling you that’s him! You hear me? I’m telling you it’s *Keyser Soze*!

The move to bring Gerrard in was enough to unsettle the flow though Mudds. Henderson made a MoM performance in the last game and has shown consistently that he works well alongside Lucas. Gerrard and Lucas has consistently showed that it doesn't work.

It might be time to move Gerrard on if he hasn't got the balls to leave him on the bench

              That's not it though.....

              1. Gerrard and Lucas in central midfiled is a ****in disaster. Everyone knows that.....
              2. Henderson on the right wing back role is ****in toilet as well.

The defense of this team is so ****in terrible..... and for me it isnt just a personnel issue (Lovren is a ****in car crash of a signing but Skrtel and Sakho should be able to form a good partnership)..... it is the lack of protection in front of the defense - ESPECIALLY WHEN GERRARD IS THERE - that is the biggest problem with this team.

But our manager isn't capable of fixing this. It should be an easy fix as well to be honest. For me we have the perfect squad to play 4-2-3-1 with attacking full backs joining in and 3 players capable of interchanging behind a main striker......but we need to persist with 3-6-1, 4-3-3, 4-4-2 diamond.........its almost like there is 2 lucky ****in dip raffles in the training ground before every ****in game........one for the formation and one for the personnel....

Arsenal, Man United, Tottenham.......they have all been ****e overall this season. But Liverpool have been the biggest underachievers by a country mile....

The Manquillo treatment is strange, hope it doesnt end up with us losing him. He's rock solid pretty much every time he plays, runs up and down non stop all game and while nothing amazing going forward yet he does contribute, this kid is ****ing good (and started our two best performances this season). But the pressing manager will pick a 30 year old who cant run as much there or a central midfielder.

And he's always bemoaning Mario's lack of pressing in the media yet plonks a 34 year old in the middle of the pitch all the time!

                Infuriating, what a wasted chance.

Oh, absolutely. The issue today - or at least, one of - is the Lucas, Gerrard axis; it has rarely worked so I'm unsure why Rodgers seemd oblivious to it. But Rodgers probably saw today's fixture as the one for Gerrard over the festive fixtures. He more than likely thought rotating one player wouldn't be detrimental to the side, especially bringing in somebody of Gerrard's calibre. We've been getting the results but lacking consistency in our performances, maybe Rodgers thought an experienced head would keep with the latter.

I've read posts like he's ripped up a winning formula. Not for me. He's stuggling to deal with Gerrard's decline. He's trying to drop him and then start him, when in reality he needs to drop Gerrard completely and look to use him from te bench.

Negligence, wilful or otherwise. He has all the right answers but his ego dictates he goes with the wrong option for whatever reason.

Einstein said something about that. Very similar to what he did at Reading apparently, he was revered but at the same time no one could understand why he was taking the 'wrong' option when it was clear as daylight. The right answer at the time was to remove him.

And who's fault its that? Gerrard's? Of course not, Stevie will give his all everytime. Its only one man's decision and that is Rodgers. So, yes he has ripped everything good we've been doing to accommodate Stevie. Why is that hard to understand? He's ripping up our hopes, he's ripping up a winning formula, he's ripping up his own career prospects.

This referring back to his time at Reading is lazy and pointless. It's being used as a stick to beat him with when it bears no resemblance.

                            1. I've been a huge Rodgers supporter, on here and on the other website (RC)
                            2. I have stood by his decision to buy Allen who I think can be key to our midfield
                            3. I think Rodgers is the best tactical manager in the league bar none. Pellegrini, Mourinho, Wenger cannot set up their teams to play the way Liverpool can.

                            HOWEVER,

                            1. I saw the warning signs with Gerrard back in the summer (thus my sig)
                            2. Rodgers' brilliant football is only stopped by one manager in the league, Rodgers
                            3. He is stubborn enough to screw up a football club (Reading?) to the extent his ego is bigger than the results.
                            4. His decisions to change things I thought were from his willingness to learn, but I now realise its more to do with luck (Lovren/Johnson getting injured, etc)

We might not find such a great tactical manager again. But for the love of LFC I'm ok with him getting the sack now.
Best tactical manager in the league? He's clueless tactically

                              That reads a tad melodramatic.

Gerrard in for a home game against the team at the bottom of the table isn't some left field decision of doing the opposite to what we did against Swansea. It was a tweak to ensure squad fitness.
