Are there people here who really change their stance on the manager after each game?! I said after the Burnley game that I was done with Rodgers, I think his luck has run out. The Swansea performance was great and I really hope that we see many more games like that this season. I sense that there's something not right, maybe now that Gerrard is leaving things will change. I honestly don't see BR being here beyond this season. I wasn't his biggest supporter at first, but he won me over and even up until recently I felt that he was the right man for the job. It worries me that he seems incapable of fixing glaringly obvious deficiencies- a top coach would have improved the defence, but we seem to be getting worse. It's no surprise that we're scoring less goals without Suarez and Sturridge, so the obvious thing would have been to tighten up the defence. We're shambolic in that area. I'm not going to call for Rodger's head, but I won't be too upset to see him go.
Not me I've criticised Rodgers a lot but I've said in the past I don't want him sacked and he should see out the season. However, if we fail to finish in the top four I want him gone because I have very little faith that he is the right man for us long term. And it's for a number of reasons too: 1)I think he's poor at organising a defence and showing no signs whatsoever at being able to get the balance right. 2) Constantly picking his favourites. 3) His teams selections/substitutions have been all over the place, I don't think he picks players on merit which sends out the wrong message to those players that have played well and are then dropped the following game. Whenever I think he has got us back on track he does something stupid and unnecessary, the Chelsea and Leicester line-up are just two examples of this having done the right thing prior to those two games. I really hope he can prove me wrong but it's not going to happen imo so let him see out the season and get rid if top four isn't achieved.
I definitely still want him to stay. The time to re-assess is at the end of the season. Had things not improved recently I would have said it's possible he could have gone mid-season, but not now. He's safe.
Let's see where we are at the end of the season. Until then we should give him our full support.

I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet
I still want him replacing. He's made a dog's dinner of this season and made bad decisions repeatedly. I really don't think he knows what to do.
He made great decisions last season though, and it was a hell of an achievement going so close to the title. For me that proves he knows what he's doing. It also leaves him with plenty of credit in the bank to make it to the end of the season IMO.
I just think he's changed too much in one go and it's cost us. There have been clear signs in the last month or so that we're regaining our form. Let's see how it pans out over the rest of the season before making any rash judgements (not that I expect you'll listen as you wrote off Markovic before he'd kicked a ball).

I agree. He clearly doesn't want us to play the way we play when we play well, he wants us playing his way which we don't play well. You can't spend 2 1/2 years at a club and not have an organised defensive unit.

I wasn't totally serious about Markovic, and I said I was guessing that he would flop, not producing a scouting assessment.
Anyway, his mistakes leave us out of the CL at the first hurdle and out of it next year so when talking about the manager we need to be thinking two year down the line. Is he the right man to get through this season, replace Gerrard, make us competitive in the transfer Windows without lots of money and without CL football on offer . Not for me, unless he pulls an amazing turnaround out of the hat really soon.

The performances in the next 18 games will play a huge role. If it is more of Swansea style performance, I think he will stay. If it is more Leicester than Swansea, he will be fired.
Also if we do not buy anyone during the January transfer window, I think FSG will review the transfer committee. Lot of parallels to the season King Kenny and Commoli was fired.
Was listening to Stuart Robson talking about Wenger on the radio over lunch.
Robson said it wouldn't matter if Arsenal had the best 4 defenders in the world their defence wouldn't improve because defending is mostly about organisation and Wenger doesn't do any.
I wonder if BR does . . . . I think I know the answer.
Its plainly obvious that Rodgers wakes up, selects whichever defender he fancies and just says go and get in the way of shots and pick someone up at corners if you can reach them in time. He probably doesn't even speak to the cunts and leaves that to Mike Marsh.
