I think the squad can be salvaged this summer, but I don't trust Rodgers to do it. A starting XI ofOriginally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostIt is not a worse squad than Hodgsons. But, I can't think of many managers who would have done a worse job of spending the money than Rodgers has done. Honestly, Allardyce would have done a better job with that kind of money to spend.
All that cash and there is no structure to the team what so ever. Over £40m on two centre backs and are best performing one is still Skrtel. Countless full backs drafted in and likely our best one is a kid who is out injured for months.
Not to mention our best midfield pairing is likely Lucas & Hendo, both of whom the manager wanted shot of at some point. Meawhile, the only decent striker is one who is out injured all the time and apparently wasn't even wanted by the manager.
Rubbish.
Mignolet
Johnson - Skrtel - Sakho - Moreno
Lucas - Henderson
Markovic - Coutinho - Sterling
Borini/Lambert
Would have been a whole lot better than the constant chopping an changing offered recently. Lallana, Can, Manquillo, Ibe and Allen to rotate as well.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I hadn't heard of LFC until I discovered them, neither had you, or indeed any of usOriginally posted by Daniel 7 View PostHow could they possibly love the club? They hadn't even heard of it before someone brought their attention to the fact that it could be snapped up for a song.
The point being that we have owners who it would appear have no real interest in the club other than as a business/investment. Roman's at most Chelsea games, seems to now love the club and have a real interest in the way they play. That's a decent owner, and it would've been nice to have someone like that, even without the pockets of Roman, just someone with a genuine interest.SakhoPotatoes

That said, the lineup you suggested wasn't often available at the same time. Sakho was injured for a fair proportion, Lovren was the preferred choice, Johnson's form was abysmal, Lucas had injuries, Gerrard was on the farewell tour, Markovic wasn't ready for regular appearances, and Borini and Lambert were absolutely terrible, with Lambert unable to operate as a lone striker.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostI think the squad can be salvaged this summer, but I don't trust Rodgers to do it. Markovic is not even close to bring a top 4 first choice player at the moment
Johnson has been crap for 2 years
Sturrridge we can't rely on at all!
Moreno is 2nd choice for me at left back
Can needs to stop being played right back !!!!
Sakho needs to play 20 games back to back build up rapport with skrtel
Lallana - can he be anymore lightweight ?
Couthinho needs better players quicker front man to link to rather then ****ing lambert etc
Sterling should never play for this club again bring in one special player to take his place
We need a new keeper to help challenge mig
Lucas is better then Allen but do we keep Allen for squad or upgrade on that move
We need a new right back like yesterday - Flanagan will be out for at least half of next year at best
Shall I up on?

I think Markovic didn't have fair go, Borini didn't either, if they had played in their positions for more than one game at a time, who knows. But I refuse to believe that our squad is at the Hodge level, we just need two or three quality players.Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostThat said, the lineup you suggested wasn't often available at the same time. I can't remember a time when I wasn't aware of LFC, but that's because I was born and raised in a country that has football as its main sport.Originally posted by tanner View PostI hadn't heard of LFC until I discovered them, neither had you, or indeed any of us

Romam Abramovic treats Chelsea as his pastime, whereas FSG saw this as a business opportunity. There's a massive difference there - there's no sentiment in business.

-----------Mig
Manquillo-Skrtel-Sakho-Johnson
----------Lucas------
------Hendo-Coutinho
---------Sterling
-----Markovic--Sterling
I still think the diamond would have been the best approach even if containing no actual strikers. as Markovic and Sterling would still have had pace to burn. Johnson would be have okay on the left as he seemed a bit more alert to defending when on his "wrong side". Manq would have been a 'stay at home' RB for the most part.

Results would tell you differentlyOriginally posted by The_weatherman View PostI think our squad is best suited to 4-2-3-1. By a mile.
That is essentially the Swansea system he employs at the start of every season that fails miserably
This for me is the problem with our squad, its hard to pin down what system works because we are so clearly lacking in many positionsBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

My point being you can learn to love something new, or at least become interested in it. There seems to be no interest in the game at all from Henry, all I'm saying is that it would be nice to have a football guy as an owner.Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostI can't remember a time when I wasn't aware of LFC, but that's because I was born and raised in a country that has football as its main sport.

Hodgson had a better first 11 for sure - here's the first 11 against Chelsea in November 2010Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostI think Markovic didn't have fair go, Borini didn't either, if they had played in their positions for more than one game at a time, who knows. But I refuse to believe that our squad is at the Hodge level, we just need two or three quality players.
25 Reina; 34 Kelly, 23 Carragher, 37 Skrtel, 3 Konchesky; 4 Meireles, 21 Lucas, 8 Gerrard, 17 Rodriguez, 18 Kuyt, 9 Torres
Here's the Stoke lineup
22 Mignolet 23 Can 37 Skrtel 17 Sakho 18 Moreno 14 Henderson 21 Lucas 24 Allen 10 Coutinho 8 Gerrard 20 Lallana
The obvious aberration in that lineup is Paul Konchesky, who is one of the worst players ever to wear a red shirt. Other than that, can you honestly say that playing 7 midfielders is better than what we saw under Roy?
Torres > no striker
Meireles > Allen
Gerrard > Gerrard
Lucas > Lucas
Rodrigues > Lallana (thus far)
Carragher > Sakho
Even your 11 is weaker man for man, than Hodgson's 11.Last edited by Daniel 7; 26-05-15, 01:20 PM.
