Thanjk you.
Paul.S
Has he been
a) Given the public backing of FSG?
b) Sacked and replaced by someone more appealing?
or
c) Resigned for the best interests of the club?
None of the above? Oh. For all his faults, I'm sure Brendan does actually want what's best for the club. Shall we just hope we win our next game then?

It'd make more sense if we'd been playing the ball to Benteke in a way that allowed him to hold it up to lay it off to the 3. But knockdowns are rarely going to come off in that formation because none of the 3 are ever close enough to him to reach them, as we've seen.
If we want to make use of his knockdowns, then we need someone playing directly off him in a 2.
So if we have Sturridge back and playing when fit where does that leave Benteke who we spent so much on.
Surely they will both be up front,so therefore if one is missing Ings just replaces in that position instead of changing the formation again.
In theory I don't think this is a significant problem, having 3 more than serviceable strikers if we intend to challenge on 4 fronts is only sensible and an indication of squad strength.
Not to mention that we can hardly rely on Sturridge's fitness and be sure all 3 will be available through the season.
What I don't get at all is why, when Sturridge was not available at the start of the season, we didn't play Benteke & Ings up front together. Completely bizarre decision, even if Ings was just seen as a placeholder for Sturridge surely it would have made sense to bed in a system with 2 up front in preparation for Benteke & Sturridge to play together.

I'd prefer to leave out the whole knockdown tactic. This gives the other team a much easier chance of swarming the player with their defenders, which closes everything off. Much rather have the ball played through the midfield since it would be a shame to ignore flair players like Coutinho, and have 2 strikers running around stupidly and pulling defenders in different directions. Thats what had us scoring plenty before. I hate the whole target big mans head. He's a striker. I want the ball at his feet.
i said it makes a certain amount of sense not that it was my preference.
even having him hold the ball up with his feet it still makes sense. if you are planning on playing benteke anyway. which is not necessarily the best idea. and has been noted elsewhere, our three aren't getting close enough to him and it's not working.

i have mentioned this a few times. not only does it help us establish a game plan and get the strikers all on the same page but it also helps the whole team have a structure, they all know wtf is going on.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Because Rodgers was **** scared of not starting the season with some form of solidity. Now Sturridge is back, our tactic of outscoring the opposition will make a come back.
