Mascherano. We never successfully replaced him. He's the best defensive midfielder I've ever seen. Love his energy, commitment and passion. Nasty little ****er too.

if there was one player that could make the most impact in our first 11, then it is Mascherano..... him sitting in front of the two centre backs and a high percentage of our defensive issues would be solved pretty much straight away.

I love Alonso - he is my favorite ever LFC player - but our first 11 right now needs a Mascherano type player in the middle of the midfield. At one stage towards the end of last season, i thought there might be a chance he would leave Barca - but then he signed a 5 year deal after being one of the top players in the world cup. I read that Luis Enrique promised him a more prominent role in their midfield - but then he went and played him in central defense anyway....

I will never fully understand why it's called the slip when the ball went under his foot before the slip happend. He wouldn't have caught Ba anyway, slip or no slip. Just an observation...
