We also had to sell players for at least £16m that January to pay the interest on the loan. We sold Keane and the manager never got the money to replace him. Either we sold Keane, Gerrard, Mascherano or Torres. I think Rafa decided to sell the right player but that is my opinion.Stop the cyberhate

FFSOriginally posted by Chris View PostThanks for proving my point! Its unfortunate he didnt get what he wanted in the order he wanted but nice to see confirmation he definitely wanted Keane not that we needed it.
HE DIDN'T WANT KEANE BECAUSE WE NEVER SIGNED UP BARRY FIRST.
So you are talking rubbish as usual.Stop the cyberhate

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Why didnt Rafa cancel it then?Originally posted by Arn View PostFFS

I also find the suggestion that Keane cant play without Gareth Barry completely obsurd. Its a bit worrying Rafa deemed Keane **** on his own but great with Gareth Barry!

Do you really believe that he had the power to do that? You know our owners told him to shut the **** up when he tried to interfere. That led to the famous PC when he answered in the same way about 20 times or so. I'm concentrating on coaching the team PC.Originally posted by Chris View PostYeah, yeah, yeah. It is also very difficult to do anything about it when the player is already signed up and the money is gone.Stop the cyberhate

Could he not have talked to Robbie Keane and said you are not my choice, It'd be best if you didnt sign? Maybe he did anyway but Keane and Parry went ahead with the conspiracy to get him anyway.Originally posted by Arn View PostDo you really believe that he had the power to do that? " also find the suggestion that Keane cant play without Gareth Barry completely obsurd. Its a bit worrying Rafa deemed Keane **** on his own but great with Gareth Barry"

if rafa truly only wanted keane if barry was bought then that is quite possibly the worst peice of management i have ever seen!!
to beleive that a proven prem footballer wouldnt succeed in our team unless an overweight, slow central midfielder playing on the left wing was in place first is quite frankly ludacris bull****.
i dont beleive rafa meant it to come out that way at all cause he was not an idiot - but that peice of business would have been idiotic.
rafa wanted keane regardless of who signed up first. the barry deal was slow going due to villa changing the asking price repeatadly whereas spurs agreed a fee and stayed with it. to say that rafa didnt want keane if barry didnt sign implies that keane would only play if barry played - so if barry had ever picked up a serious injury would keane have never played?!?!
keane didnt worlk out so rafa sold him (fair do's) but i think he got mixed up with his reasoning.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

I dont think it's a huge leap to believe that Rafa thought he could trade Xabi for Barry & Keane with a relatively small price differential & that the 2 signings were interdependent in remodelling the side. Am not convinced it wouldve worked at all though, but you can see it is a coherent strategy nontheless.3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Why is it this thread constantly get's turned in to the same old debate?
Why are so many people stuck in the past and not moving on?
This thread would be so much better, if it was kept to following the future of one of our former greats, rather than the tired old discussion of net spend, owners, Rick Parry, a couple of players and tactics 2-5 years ago...

Based on this theory, we cant really post about anything to do with the club then, because we dont know them for certain.Originally posted by Alex View Post
No one knows for certain who he wanted and who he didn't. NO ONE. Stop making it seem like you know the inner workings of the club, you don't.
I really dislike this line of debate, if i'm honest.

Thanks for helping prove my point even though you were trying to do the opposite!
what I read said that wanted Barry first and only wanted keane if barry had been signed, without Barry, he didn't fit into his plans.
For me, the biggest mistake Rafa made was going into his final season without signing a striker (having sold keane) - we were screaming out for a signing, or even two, all summer.. He may have done it to make a point, but who knows. It cost him his job whichever way, as once Torres was injured, we were stuffed.
Rafa was trying to do his best by the club and by the fans with his hands tied - he even tried to tell us what was going on, but was gagged. I wish the Americans hadn't managed to get rid of him before the board's coup ousted them.
I aoplogise if anyone is aroused by the S&M imagery I have used in this post.

Then again, plenty don't like your line of debate either. **** happens. Move on. I'm not having a go at you btw. Just saying that everyone talks ****.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostBased on this theory, we cant really post about anything to do with the club then, because we dont know them for certain.

I also dislike this black & white viewpoint. It's really not about 'anti' or 'pro' and i very much doubt there's anyone who, to an extent, doesnt fall somewhere in between the two. Except Arn, obviously.Originally posted by Alex View PostYour really not reading what's being written are you. I said "IF it was his mistake he got shot quickly"
Your anti, im pro. Try to see my side like Im trying to see yours.
I dont think Parry went and signed anyone unless the names were given to him.
