I do sort of understand the rev tbf. Taking Rafa back after he has been at another big club in England would be difficult, not sure if I would be so receptive either tbh. Anyway, if he is that good and takes charge of another big club, surely he wil lbe a big success so will not be looking to come back?"Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." But what if he left that club...mid contract...to come back to us ? Would he still be..er....Tainted ?Originally posted by Tee View PostI do sort of understand the rev tbf. I get where you are coming from but we sacked him, it's not like he's walked out then come grovelling back.Originally posted by the rev leeroy brown View Postno i cant. you're right. However, my personal opinion i wouldnt want him back if he manages one of spurs, chelsea, arsenal, united, city. I see these teams as our rivals. The other way around (manges one of these teams first then come to us ) no problems. But to go from us to them and back would be too much for me.
I think it might be a good thing too, the people who think he does no wrong cant really argue with 3 sackings in a row and the people who think he does no right cant argue if he wins big trophies at yet another club.

...given I believed then and believe now that "the first sacking" was a complete joke.

That completely takes away the question though, about taking him back after he's managed a rival and whether fans would see him as tainted.Originally posted by Tee View PostBut what if he said no to us mid contract and stayed at that club?
Sort of kills the debate really.

I doubt that he will come back anyway. And if he was managing somewhere else I would be certain he would not come back. No way would FSG bring him in if they had to pay compensation to get him out of his contract. As a free agent there is a possibility but if he had another job? Highly unlikely."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

Yeah, i'm just looking at it from a hypothetical view point really too, and mainly in response to the Revs point about Tainted goods.
The Bloke was devastated when he was sacked, "he did everything to try and stay" i remember Montse saying, i just don't see how he could ever be considered tainted, he put himself through the shredder mentally through those last months, and for various reasons was treated like ****e by those in charge at board level.Last edited by Vermilion; 12-03-12, 05:03 PM.

I think it was widely reported that Rafa had a constructive dismissal claim against the club arising through the two leaches approaching Klinsmann to replace him which he did not pursue, I also think that he accepted a much smaller severance package from the club than he was entitled to when he did leave (unlike Houllier for example) and then proceeded to give portions of it away to worthy local charities including the Hillsborough Campaign. And as I understand it he and his family continue to contribute to local causes. I dont think the man's love and loyalty to the club and its community could ever be questioned. I don't care what role he takes next or after that or after that. To me he will always be welcome at Anfield.White liquid in a bottle = Milk

but... that doesnt mean he, or anyone else, has a god given right to use our memory of our CL win or other past glories to cloud our judgement as to what is best for the future development of OUR club.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I wonder is Rafa reading this, thinking, **** i wanted to go to a top club, but if Leeroy thinks like that, I'll take the job at Wolves.Originally posted by the rev leeroy brown View PostIF IF IF Rafa goes to chelski to manage them then i would never tale him back.
he wants a return to english football at a team where he has a chance of challenging ....... well thats all of our rivals. if he manages any of them i never want him back - tainted goods.
if he is willing to drop his amibitions and takes a job with a sunderland, west brom, stoke club then i would in the distant future be willing to accept him back.
