    As a footballer- undoubtedly incredible

As a person- nobody knows unless you are his teammate, mate, family member or someone else actually close to him.

From what i saw on the field- He looked like he could be such an annoying **** at times and i don't know why fans feel the need to defend him. Its ok to remember Suarez as a footballing genius who was also a real dickhead to play against.

If he played for united, everybody here would refer to him as scum of the earth and had his misdemeanours been in the reverse direction, i.e imagine him playing for chelsea and biting Martin Skrtel or saying 'por que Negro' or whatever to glen johnson, then he would be the biggest hate figure ever.

I think its a bit sad that some adult fans still let this sort of tribalism cloud judgement. The media in Britain nowadays get stuck into most public figures whether they be an obscure reality tv star, film celebrity or sportsman-an unfortunate reality. They print lots of lies or obscure the truth all the time without analysing a situation properly with minimal bias as possible. I think perhaps one of the greatest educational failures that can occur is an inability to analyse a situation without bias- this occurs too often in football. just because you're a fan doesn't mean you have to back up a player when they do something that is plain and simply idiotic.

From what i read in the media (direct quotes)/excerpts from his book- came across as an absolute idiot. But of course he wouldn't be the first very talented footballer to lack intelligence.

I don't know what he intended. Just the same as you or anyone else - other than Suarez - doesn't know if he was being racist. Unlike, say, John Terry who was caught calling someone a "****ing black cunt". We can all agree there's no doubt about that.

Not going into the whole negro thing but obviously it doesn't mean or translate as what it means here. He could 100% legitimately have been referring to him as negro, it's commonplace. I don't see why he'd admit to that when he could've denied everything and got away with it. He didn't admit to racially abusing Evra, he admitted to saying "por que, negro?".

My point was I don't buy the universal acceptance that he is racist (especially since the FA's report, including Evra, clearly stated he is not a racist individual), I don't buy the FA's "investigation" and I don't accept their verdict nor their idea of justice.

The stone cold fact is he would not have been found guilty in a court of law. His 'offence' has never been proven. Not even close. So no way will I go along with the bloodthirsty masses - most of whom take issue with almost everything the FA do or adjudicate on but conveniently put that to one side for a moment while they heartily applauded the Suarez verdict - and accept that Suarez racially abused Evra.
I can't argue against any of that

I just can't believe that he said it thinking it would absolutely unequivocally NOT cause offence or garner some kind of reaction. Otherwise, given the nature of their altercation, why say it?

The 115-page report by an independent commission from the English Football Association was published Saturday. It says that when Evra asked Suarez during the Oct. 15 Premier League match why he had been kicked, the striker replied in Spanish: "Porque tu eres negro."

That translates as "because you are black."
      Did Suarez deny that?

Suarez is from Uruguay and contends the use of "negro" in that country and other parts of Latin America is inoffensive in certain situations.
      Fair enough. But:

Evra said he would punch Suarez if he repeated the comment. Suarez replied: "No hablo con los negros" -- "I don't speak to blacks."
The report said that after Evra threatened a second time to hit him, Suarez replied with a phrase that the report said translates as "OK, blackie, blackie, blackie."
      How can that be inoffensive?

Of course, if he denies saying it all, then there is no argument. But for me anyway it's a pretty huge leap to read that and not think it was meant maliciously. Even taking the translation issues into consideration

I dunno. I'd love to think it was a completely innocent miscommunication

That's one of Evra's versions, not what Suarez admitted to saying.

I absolutely detest the certainty in that joke of a report. "Suarez said" this, "Evra said" that. You've no ****ing clue what anyone said you daft cunts.

I thought that's what the actual commission report stated? Which of course isn't any indication of what actually occurred, unless Suarez vehemently denies saying any of it

Must admit when I read that article I was a bit shocked, I thought it was more akin to Shaggy's version

They believed Evra though. Can't really blame them. Hilariously, Suarez told them that he'd pinched Evra's cheek to defuse the situation. Then he admitted to them that wasn't the case. What were they meant to make of that? This is the man who tried to deny he'd bitten anyone at the world cup until he knew the gig was up. He may be a brilliant footballer but he's also a stone-faced liar.

Oh wait ok. I remember this from the time. Suarez DID deny it, and what he says he said does massively reduce the animosity:

Mr Suarez denied the Charge. His case, in short, was as follows. He agreed with Mr Evra that they spoke to each other in Spanish in the goalmouth. When Mr Evra asked why he had kicked him, Mr Suarez replied that it was a normal foul and shrugged his shoulders. Mr Evra then said that he was going to kick Mr Suarez, to which Mr Suarez told him to shut up. As Mr Kuyt was approaching, Mr Suarez touched Mr Evra’s left arm in a pinching style movement. According to Mr Suarez, at no point in the goalmouth did he use the word “negro”. When the referee blew his whistle to stop play, Mr Evra spoke to Mr Suarez and said (in English) “Don’t touch me, South American”. Mr Suarez replied “Por que, negro?”. He says that he used the word “negro” in a way with which he was familiar from his upbringing in Uruguay. In this sense, Mr Suarez claimed, it is used as a noun and as a friendly form of address to people seen as black or brown-skinned (or even just blackhaired). Thus, it meant “Why, black?” Mr Suarez maintained that when he said “Por que, negro?” to Mr Evra, it was intended in a conciliatory and friendly way. Mr Suarez said this 6 was the only time that he used the word “negro” in his exchanges with Mr Evra during the match.
But even assuming that he's not just outright lying, he's either a bit daft having spent considerable time in Europe, or he said what he did to get a reaction. Which whilst doesn't immediately qualify him as being racist, it's a reasonably ****ty thing to do

It's a crock as far as I'm concerned.

They may have found against Suarez in terms of a specific offence, and that may be down to finding Evra more believable, but whether that decision was correct or not it doesn't logically follow that they must as a result accept his version as the entire unembellished truth. Pick more or less any line they claim was said and whats the evidence for it being what happened? Beats me!

This is my stand on it too.

He's racially abused Evra, I cannot believe for a minute he hasn't.

We backed him to the hilt only for him to come out publicly saying he wanted out to Arsenal!

                        He bit Ivanovic.

We got him a ****ing therapist, albeit for the team but I imagine he was a massive reason for it.

He then went the world cup and bit Chiellini..

EDIT: You raise a good point that this is a man that was trying to say he banged his ****ing teeth on Chiellini at the WC

They'd found he'd told a big porky-pie to them right there in the hearing, they're entitled to make what they want out of that.

One thing is for sure, if Suarez had been playing for Chelsea everyone would be calling him a big racist cunt, and that's the sad thing about this.
