There are certainly more ways than the merely consequentialist to determine the morality of an action.Originally posted by Fierce View PostI dunno mate. He was 2 years old and he bit someone. Bit someone!!
I mean, he didn't use the shirt to wipe his arse or gob on the 'This Is Anfield' sign, but c'mon, BITING someone ffs
What is 'worse', biting or a knee high tackle? Well in terms of what I would prefer to be on the end of, a little nibble, 100%. But in a contact sport, I am genuinely perplexed at how a bad/reckless/violent challenge could ever be viewed as more heinous than one adult human being biting another
I have to say that I think biting fits somewhere between the uncontrolled tackle (which is basically encouraged in the game and everyone signs up for) and the deliberate stamp or other physical attacks which have a chance of doing real damage.
Suarez is mostly disgraced by the biting because, as you say, it is socially more associated with toddlers. Which is fair.
In terms of the ills of football I think the biting is realistically less of a big issue than the type of deliberate stamp Costa seems to perform in every game."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
