Atrocious tackle on him now, guy's just been sent off.

Really bad tackle, could have broke his knee.

Just came across this statistic, which shows you how stupidly good he was for us...

All time assists for Liverpool players (Premier League only)

                        Steven Gerrard
                        113

                        Steve McManaman
                        68

                        Luis Suarez
                        44

                        Dirk Kuyt
                        37

                        Michael Owen
                        37

                        Robbie Fowler
                        34

                        Jamie Redknapp
                        33

                        Danny Murphy
                        32

                        John Arne Riise
                        32

                        Stig Inge Bjornebye
                        28

                        Xabi Alonso
                        28

                        Vladimir Smicer
                        27

                        John Barnes
                        26

                        Dietmar Hamann
                        25

He was a brilliant footballer but having Dirk Kuyt just behind you in assists dulls the award a bit.

The point was he only played for us for, what? Three and a half seasons. Most of those on the list played twice as long.

Everyone knows about his goals, but its the contribution to the rest of the team that is missed equally. I think he was looked at as rather a selfish striker but he was one of the best providers in the history of the Premier League

                            So he played 110
                            Scored 69
                            assisted 44

                            That's a contribution of over a goal a game.

                            Gerrard played 497/ scored 117 /assisted 113
                            Alan Shearer 441/260/64
                            Thierry Henry 258/175/74
                            Robbie Fowler 379/163/39
                            Michael Owen 326/150/31

Its just a shame we could not have held onto him for one more season, as we would have had a decent shout of winning both the league and champions league

Like I say, a fantastic player. Still, just above Dirk... Gotta rankle.

Skewed figures again. Suarez's assists came because he passed to Sturridge. Often. Obviously Sturridge weren't gonna miss.

Most of Gerrard's hard work pre-Torres was to a long line of donkeys, except Owen.
