I'm choosing to believe this. Whenever I see him it's a bit of a mixed bag, with varying plus and minus points each match, but the best bits are more than handy.Originally posted by Darkon View PostI think that is very harsh on him, especially also considering he is enterily new to the team and with a new manager as well.
I don't think he's movement is poor at all, he just needs to find a rhytm with the players behind him. His shooting have been the major let down, but he does find space and gets opportunities in front of goal.
Not sure he's got what it takes long term, but the potential and attitude is there I think.
I think anyone believing that we would get one of the best prospects of one of the highest ranked nations in the world for much less than £10m are living in the past somewhat. Depending on wages and sign on fee it could still be a better value deal than many of the strikers where the headline figure is smaller any way."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Problem is he looks absolutely nothing like that...Originally posted by dww View PostI'm choosing to believe this. Whenever I see him it's a bit of a mixed bag, with varying plus and minus points each match, but the best bits are more than handy.

I think that a lot of people with respected judgement thought there was more potential to be unlocked and I think that is backed up by looking at his scoring home versus away at Lille:
To me he looks to be a confidence player. But perhaps there are adjustments to his game that can mitigate that."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I also think part of the problem is when he is in space or makes a good run, the midfielders don't always trust him and take it on themselves, which can prove quite frustrating for him. Coutinho was certainly guilty of it on countless occasions, although to be fair he did lay it off to him in a decent position on one occasion and he ballooned it into the crowd.Originally posted by Darkon View PostI think that is very harsh on him, especially also considering he is enterily new to the team and with a new manager as well.

I like the look of him, he has plenty of good attributes, he just needs to learn to use them. If we ever do find a system that Benteke suits, they we could have the perfect replecement/cover for him, which has often been a problem for us in the past. I'm also pretty sure that a Belgian journalist on LFC TV said Benteke was also a pudding when a similar age to Derek. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

He's only now starting to get some playing time under a new manager coming to a depressing situation and with new methods. It's been a week of training, I think it's fair to cut this young player some slack.Originally posted by dww View PostI think that a lot of people with respected judgement thought there was more potential to be unlocked and I think that is backed up by looking at his scoring home versus away at Lille:

Early days is putting it lightly, he's not the player to carry us through single handed at this stage, others need to step up a damn sight more.

Lets give him some time to settle first before writing him completely off

Coutinho?Originally posted by Tee View PostMakes David Ngog look like Thierry Henry.
Klopp has so much ****e in the first team I think this is going to take a few years to straighten out.
I would (over the course of a rebuild) get rid of every player that started today apart from Sakho and Can. Rest are ****e, in their approach and application.
The times they are a changin'.
