I think the most important thing Klopp has done is uniting the club, there are no more quibbles and arguments between fans and he's getting everyone on board and morale hasn't been better since before H&G. I love it and I'm enjoying the footy and that we're not spending money like it's going out of fashion.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

He's taken us to 2 finals in less than a year, got us playing stunning attacking football & he hasn't needed a Mourinho like war chest to do it. He's responsible for the best morale I've ever seen at the Club. I'm giddy for that & in anticipation of what I believe will happen.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostI don't love him, you are correct. I'm pleased he's our manager and long may that continue, but I'll refrain from any love until he delivers something telling such as a trophy, you know, the usual basic requirement before folk go all giddy.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I'm a huge believer in Klopp and I wouldn't want anyone else to be our manager at the moment but I am not up for this "winning is a bonus" malarkey. It seems as though it's been so long that we last won the title that some of us have forgotten that that's what we are about. We are Liverpool. Winning is not a bonus. Winning is what we are about, fans, players, management, all together. I can't wait to see that big goofy German grin atop an open top bus, parading the premier league trophy. Not because it would be a bonus but because it would show that we have, at long last, returned to being the LFC we really are. For the first time since Kenny's first spell, I think we have the right pieces of the puzzle in place to do just that in the next couple of years. It's easy to distract fat people. It's a piece of cake.

I know what you mean - winning is more than a bonus - but I broadly agree with labourRed's post...there is no way the manager can only be celebrated if we win stuff. He's made for us, we're made for him, and he is making us competitive again. There are are four or five top class managers in this league and only one can win the league. That won't make the rest failures. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Of course he is, beacuse of everything he achieved as a player and a manager the first time around and he still got a trophy the second time too. Silly comparison.Originally posted by labourRed View PostI disagree. Dalglish didn't do so well in his second term but still is held in the highest regard.
Liverpool have no right to be winning stuff with the fact we're 5/6th in terms of spend/wages and the like. I'll settle for him making us competitive, entertaining me and doing the best we can. Winning stuff i'll take as a bonus.
Nobody said we have a right to win things but that's what made us the club we are, it exists to win and if it doesn't then the manager and the owners have failed.

OK while I was typing it I realised someone would call me out on that.Originally posted by G View PostOf course he is, beacuse of everything he achieved as a player and a manager the first time around and he still got a trophy the second time too. Silly comparison.

It has the makings for a really naff argument. We exist to win seems a very trite thing to say.
He's got loads of time and if he sees that out I'd back him to upset the odds a few times rendering this debate useless.

I disagree with the failure point raised above.
If their target is to win it and they don't they've failed. If their target is to compete and they do they then achieved what they set out to do. Ask any of them what the target is and it'll be to win. Ask Klopp and he won't say that yet cos its early days but trophies will be the ultimate aim and if he doesn't get any then he will have failed.
All anyone can ask is that we are competing for it and most will be happy with that but not forever, look at Arsenal, always up there, never winning and fans get restless and he has leagues in the bag. Klopp needs to win some trophies at some point to be deemed a success. Shanks turned us from nothing to regular trophy winners, Paisley took that, improved it and made us European heavyweights, Fagan won the treble, Dalglish won the double and many more. They are revered because of those things but winning is an essential part of that. Souness won the cup but is not revered as a manager, only a player, neither is Evans. Houllier is cos he ended the drought in spectacular style and Rafa won the 5th so his place is secure but I maintain all managers of this club should be judged on their trophies. Nearly winning the league is seen as an achievement these days cos of how far we've fallen. Not in my book.Last edited by G; 19-09-16, 06:12 PM.
