If so not sure how meaningful these comparisons can be.Last edited by BG1973; 07-01-24, 01:06 PM.

The benchmark now for him is other midfielders.
His old stats when he was a RB were miles ahead of other RBs at that time to be fair, but think now he needs to be judged against other central/deep midfielders as he spends the majority of time in midfield.
No idea how he matches up stat wise against other midfielders however the eye test says he has been in good form, the recent run of games in particular.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

My Trent POTY prediction starting to gain some momentum.
Should we win the league, it will likely be between him and Virg if they keep up form.
Excellent again today and a big reason we didn't go in behind. As captain, he was Gerrard like driving the team forward, even when under heavy pressure. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Great going forward but still too lazy defensively, let Martinelli waltz past him twice with trying to stop him. If he wants to play in midfield so be it but if he needs to defend then do it 100%. He's evolving into a brilliant footballer. Still has struggles 1v1 in the right back positions, but his overall influence on the game is immense. He's also a bit better defensively at right back. Still has to make strides defensively at right back, but making baby steps in my opinion.Originally posted by RedReet View PostMy Trent POTY prediction starting to gain some momentum.

All FB's get skinned some times, he looked tired 2nd time to me. Maybe he gets skinned more than most, but when it doesn't lead to goals, who cares?

The thing is, I know he can defend….. I’ve seen him do it countless times. I’d be ok with him getting skinned if he was trying, sticking a toe in doesn’t count. He just gives the impression that he doesn’t want to defend anymore.
He’s going to be an all time great for us but if Gerrard was asked to play right back there was no way he’d not bust a gut trying to stop the winger

Trent just needs help when he’s facing wingers like Martinelli who have quick feet. I had a look on the gooners forums a couple of days ago and the consensus for why Martinelli is having much less impact this season is because opposition teams are now all doubling up on him.Originally posted by Irishnev View PostGreat going forward but still too lazy defensively, let Martinelli waltz past him twice with trying to stop him. Back to Trent though, has there been another LFC player who brings so much but gets scrutinised like he does? I find it pretty weird to be honest.
I thought he was great again today, his passing skills are mental.

He was great today. Saw a stat that the only left winger to have scored or assisted this season against us is Gordon. Goal at St James assist at Anfield.
This pass with his swinger is outrageous. Just like a casual game of 5s.
