Because this about him being able to say that the club turned down getting money for him, he didn’t want to leave on a free. He knows full well the club would turn it down as he’s given them no indication he wants to leave, as yet.

This is already a game about his reputation IMO.

But it allows him to say they could have got money for him, but the club chose to hang on and let him leave on a free so fans will be less angry at him when he goes. I’m not even sure it would be legally enforceable in the UK as it may constitute ‘an agreement to agree’, which is not a valid form of contract.

So you’re saying you think a player could get out of it if they changed their mind in the final 6 months of their existing contract? I don’t like the fact that OS Clubs can approach players in the last 6 months as it disrupts things potentially
