I don't buy that. Suppose Liverpool agreed? Whatever the fee is - say £20m - there's no way that RM or any other club are going to let a potential free transfer - that they are very confident about -drop them in the hole for that sort of money just to save face for the player. RM don't care about that, certainly not to the tune of £20m. Like I said above, to me this means that TAA to RM is not nailed on and RM are trying to force the issue.Really?

Best thing the club could do then is to ask him if he wants to leave this month or is he 100% committed to pushing for the title with us and to go public with the answer. That way the club take back control of the situation and we all know where we stand. If players want to play games, the club can too.Originally posted by Exiled_red View Post

It seems like his agent or whoever has told Madrid to put a bid in, both he and Madrid knew it would be rejected. But it allows him to say they could have got money for him, but the club chose to hang on and let him leave on a free so fans will be less angry at him when he goes. It feels that games are being played here. But I am not surprised by any of this
There is of course always the possibility that he wants to stay and is using RM as bait to get a better deal, but with no intention of leaving. I find it pretty repulsive though when players on hundreds of thousands a week just keep haggling for more and more. How much do you actually need? The same players who were campaigning for the Nurses during COVID are throwing the toys out of the pram when they don't get their inflation beating pay rise demands met. The system needs a shake up, but it'll never happen, well not unless it finally does go bang.Last edited by fabinho; 01-01-25, 10:36 AM.Glass half empty club

Perfect. The lad is Mental, unfortunately when the money involved gets so big, family / advisors start lo consider their own interests first. Quite simply, he is deluded..Originally posted by Exiled_red View Post
His style of play is afforded the luxury of being tailored to fit when he plays for his boyhood club. There is no way he will get the same luxury in Spain. If he plays there anything like some of the brutal defensive performances he put in last season it will all be over for him in a flash.
History is about to repeat itself. As the great JK once said “Stay here and they will end up building a statue in your honour. Go somewhere else, to Barcelona, to Bayern Munich, to Real Madrid, and you will be just another player."Last edited by kingfunk; 01-01-25, 11:01 AM.

Just ask Owen and Macca. Thye wont admit it and distract themselves with having played for Madrid and all the money they got, but it definitely upsets them some to know liverpool fans dont think much of them. Probably convince themselves its not their fault and the fans are ungreatful for everything they did. Half true in a way. But wrong viewpoint. Any number of good players could have been in their spot and done what they did. Thats not what makes a player special to a club though.Last edited by vlahka; 01-01-25, 11:32 AM.

I just don't get all the Trent anger. He's won everything and now he possibly wants to experience a new league while he's at his peak and play for the world's biggest club. Owen and Macca were different. They went to win things as we weren't the best team in the country. We had owens best years. Over played him from an early age without too much care for his long term career. He should be the bitter one. Macca went and won European cups, I just don't see where the problem is. Well apart from he's one of the ****test commentators ever but I think that would have been the case if he stayed as well.

But if this was orchestrated by Trent and his agent, then getting RM to put in a bid now whilst we're in the position we are is absolutely piss poor, selfish behaviour. If he had nothing to do with it then fine, but I doubt it.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostI just don't get all the Trent anger.
