Fair play to him. Won everything here and wants to play for the biggest club in the world. I get some emotional outburst from the fanbase, but everyone on here is over 40. We're all adults. What will be will be. Go smash it Trent and then come back.

From one lurker to another, thank God this is over, can move on now and let Slot build for next year, hopefully Yerman Bradley fulfills his promise, it will be mildly interesting to see if Trent can become a rare success after leaving the club. Cannot think of many othersOriginally posted by Irishgit View PostI don’t comment often at all, am a serial lurker, but this has me absolutely fuming! He’s known for two years that he was going and instead of respecting the club and us fans and dealing with it properly, he winds down contract so he can leave for free, just great that.
I know many say he owes us nothing, he’s won it all with us, gave us great memories blah blah blah, yes I suppose he did, but he also stood there, kissed the badge and told us that this was his forever club, his dream was that he wanted to captain the club etc etc, all bull****. His behaviour and his playing over last couple of seasons has at times been diabolical and we all stood up for him and supported him as one of our own, only for him to do this. People were pissed off with Coutinho, least he had the respect and courage to tell us he wanted to go, we got a decent fee and reinvested, he didn’t rat us out of 80-100 million.
Some making a lot of the 20 year thing as well, like he’s given us his soul for 20 years, think it’s way short of that, not to mention the club has invested everything into him during those years as well, it does go both ways. He’s dead to me now, will not be remembered for the goals, the amazing passes, the Barca corner or certainly not his defending, but instead be remembered for being a rat Judas!
Rant over…….back to lurking now ha ha ha ha

This is sort of where I'm at, I mean it's not like I'm thinking about this offline or getting me down in life, but I do feel he's the shafter and the club is the shaftee. Coutinho leaving allowed us to strengthen, Trent leaving is bad on and off the pitch, yes we'll replace him but it'll cost and the way transfers and PSR work, you have to sell well as well. Dick move and a setback.Originally posted by Irishgit View PostI don’t comment often at all, am a serial lurker, but this has me absolutely fuming! I just dont think he is that good anymore. He should be at his peak now, but what does he offer other than some sweet passing? His years of double digit assits are long gone, and while I thought he was our most important player 5-6 years ago, he is a long way from that now. Apart from the lack of fee, I just dont care. Im more excited for who is going to come in and give us a boost down the right, tbh.In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

I agree, and I don’t see Slot crying himself to sleep tonight either.Originally posted by Charly View PostI just dont think he is that good anymore. Slot will be devastated. Trent is a phenomenal footballer and Slot would love to keep him. Saying otherwise is similar to the clowns last year saying the new manager will be hoping Salah is going so they don't inherit 'that problem'.Originally posted by kingfunk View PostI agree, and I don’t see Slot crying himself to sleep tonight either. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Taa - Ra, La. Ta, but whatever. He doesn't bring much dynamism these days. I think we'll miss the accurate ranging passes & free kicks initially, but he's not the first player to develop those skills, nor the only one we have capable of it. Annoying to lose him for free, but we got him for nothing..Really?

Fair enough, decestatsd is maybe a bit strong.Originally posted by Catrin View PostSlot will not be devastated. Players being mercenary is part of football, as it is for clubs. Trent and his brother have won this particular game.
But there is no scenario in which Slot wouldn't keep Trent, if given the opportunity. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

A scenario where he's paid £40m of the transfer budget upfront in cash and give £400k of the wage budget is one where Slot may be dubious. And that's the actual scenario by most accounts. After the Virgil and Mo signings, there's a good chance it could materially impact his transfer budget, and I suspect he might value spending big on positions like the number 9 more than fullbacks. On football manager with cheat codes, I'm sure he'd be desperate to keep him, but maybe it's more fantasy football, and Trent's price is disproportionately high.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

I'm more irritated that we lost yesterday than Trent leaving.
It's been a near certainly since the beginning of the season, so literally no surprise.
He'll be missed. He's local and he has a particular skill set which is unique in world football.
But no one owes anyone anything in work, let alone in football - beyond contracted benefits. The same is for all of us in all of our jobs.
It's fair to say we've got our money's worth from him, and we've been super successful in cashing in handsomely on the lesser talents from the academy.
It's a shame he's gone to Madrid though. I do detest them, maybe more than any other club. But that's his choice.Oh I don't know.

Slot will have know pretty early on into his tenure that TAA was off and he and the recruitment team will have had meetings to discuss replacements.Originally posted by RedReet View PostSlot will be devastated. At least I hope thats what has happened and that today's announcement isn't coming as a surprise to anyone at the club....other than the odd tour guide
