If he’s not back for the City game, I wonder if Matip at right back might be a better option than Milner? He played there for Shalke a few times, has decent pace, loves a run forward, has a decent pass on him and is good positionaly - no idea what his crossing is like though.

A back four of Robbo, VVD, Konate and Matip would be solid defensively.

Trent missing for City would be a massive blow. We simply have nobody who can replace like for like.

We can stick a solid defender in there, but we have still lost our best provider.

Not sure Id trust a midfielder to play there. Milner is too slow now. Same with Hendo.

Yeah, if a right footed midfielder can play a whole season at left back, then surely Robbo or Tsimi can be an option at right back for one game? At least it would still give us attacking full backs on each side.

Other than that, Gomez is the obvious choice.

Or Matip - better defender than Gomez and used to play RB in Germany. Also, his recent goal and mazy runs just show how much he wants to be involved in the final third

it would be a massive blow, he literally is irreplaceable.

I would play Timmy there, he can still drive forward and give us an attacking thread. Put in a lovely ball with his right foot for the goal vs Forest.

fabhino played right back a lot in his career. We miss too much in CM though when he doesnt play there, and he's not suited to RB in our team either

Agreed, Fab is too important to move. Id rather not move Matip out. Gomez got injured a lot playing there... It tempting fate.

Gomez is solid enough as a defender, but he look very awkward going forward.

Its a big ask for anyone, really. Hradest game of the season.

Milner played there when we met them at Anfield this season, but would much prefer Gomez this time if TAA not fit, and we shouldn't risk him if a doubt sadly.

Gomez has played there recently. I actually thought he played well v Forest. So he will be the deputy. Could be Gomez v Sterling II.
