I thought the interesting part was when he said he would play on Sunday, then said “unless they tell me he is sick”… he did follow up saying “but I still don’t extract to happen”… not sure anyone including Slot knows the final outcome with TAA this window.

BTW Calvin Ramsay has been recalled from loan

Apparantly we were not happy with his lack of game time so are recalling him so that he can go on a different loan.

Yeah, can see Ramsay going back out on loan sharpish though, his loan has been a failure to say the least.

Also some stories about Trent asking to be guaranteed the captaincy as one of his demands to sign a contract, probably bull**** but if it it wasn’t, that would make me uneasy, nobody should be guaranteed anything, no matter who they are, not to say he shouldn’t get it some day, he needs to show he is captain material first.

I think he said when Virg goes/retires so he's looking 3 years ahead. It's quite possible that he's using the RM stuff as leverage

That’s sounds like bull**** tbh. Imagine the optics when Trent signs a contract, and Virgil gets stripped of captaincy next week Trent’s a smart lad, he may well have desires to captain the club but he will know demanding the captaincy is not the way to go about it. As the youngest VC he is in line for it anyway.

Trent will know through the culture he has learned to play in that you earn captaincy, you don’t use it as leverage.

I don’t think there are any true hard facts out there just a load of recycled clickbait and rumours.

A foreign central defender captain of Liverpool having to give up the armband during a season so it goes to a local lad? Never happen at Liverpool would that.

Then the same player having the VC spot taken from him a season or two later?

Nah no precedent at all for that.

I am not surprised by all the negative comments, but I don't think it very fair. (Shock, horror internet-thingy in unfair moment!)

1 Not all players are one-club players and it is not reasonable for us to expect them to be. And, if you are not to be a one-club footballer, you have to move at some time.
2 The chance to ply one's trade in a different country for a while is very attractive for a lot of us (I did it), so why should it be different for a footballer?
3 As most of this site keep saying in different words, there is an inconsistency between the player Trent wants to be/thnks he is and the player Liverpool and many of its fans think they have. In such circumstances, a chance to move to a different environment that might enable him to get closer to his own vision is bound to be attractive.
4 Football fans invariably play the loyalty card in one direction only. Xabi Alonso clearly loved the Basque country but we didn't admonish him for moving to us rather than staying at Real Sociedad. Over the years, some players clearly loved our club and our city, yet we were still offering to drive him ourselves to clubs rumoured to be interested in buying them.

Just because Trent might want to go to RM does NOT mean that RM are bigger or better than our club; it would just mean that, at this point in his career, that is the club he would like to spend some years playing for.

I get that, but it's not at all common, in fact, I'd guess it's very rare and for obvious reasons, that a local player leaves on a free, surely that's also a point that can be argued?

Edit: The local player, happening to be the vice captain as well.
                  * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

We didn't pay a transfer fee for him, what's it matter if he leaves for free?

Because he’d probably fetch around £90m, would single handedly cover replacing both him and Robertson and potentially even another.

I dont think you can compare Sami to VVD.

Sami had no ego. As much as I love VVD, I do think he would be pissed off if he lost the captaincy.

The point is, what has Trent done to deserve the armband. Does he show leadership on the pitch? His petulant nature excludes him from that honour Perhaps if he can be substitued without throwing his toys out of the pram would be a good start. It might be bull**** anyway, but if it is true it is the height of sense of entitlement imho, and utterly disrespectful to Virg, who I think has earnt the captaincy

To state the obvious, we have VVD, Salah and Trent who could all leave on a free transfer at the same time. This is terrible contract management by the club regardless of how it plays out.

Sign them up before their contract runs down, or sell them.

I put zero blame on any of the players.

Slot could have been a ****show though. None of them had any reason to sign once they knew Klopp was leaving.
