You were quick to write off Rafa during his first season, calling him the 'Spanish Eric Morecambe' (when you were Redheart). You wrote Kenny off saying he would be a disaster and now you are saying Caroll is dog food.

The good thing is that we have enough resources and time to give Carroll the time he needs to improve and adjust.

Actually I said before Suarez played for us that by the end of last season we would see him as our best player and by the end of this season we will see him as the best player in the league. So bang on the money.

The rest of the signings have done well. Downing has been much better than most expected as has Henderson who will grow into one hell of a player. Enrique hs been superb. Adam the jury is still out because of his lack of athleticism which cannot be fixed (unlike fitness).

Carroll is a giant waste of money. You cannot justify it by saying we got him and Suarez in exchange for getting rid of Sulky pants. We had £35m to spend and because it didn't cost us it does not mean it is ok to waste it. We had a chance to buy a £35m striker and we blew it on a donkey.

And for playing lovely football we are indeed in parts. As for 3rd in the league its after three games (two of which we would have expected to win) so is meaningless.

But there are clearly still some glaring weaknesses in the team and we do not have the resources to catch up the Mancs teams within 3-5 years.

If it's too early to judge us after 3 games, and it's 'meaningless', why is it not too early to judge Carroll?

How long did it take for Crouch to score for us?

I seriously think Carroll just needs some more time to settle. It's a different game for him, from playing for his team into the premiership, to being sold against his wishes.

Crouch was about 17 or 18 games wasn't he?

Carroll has 3 for us now after 20 games or so, but hasn't shown as much in any of those games as Crouch did at the start of his Liverpool career (imo).

If Carroll ended up as good as Crouch, that would be alright I guess.

I am judging Carroll on his time with Newcastle and his time with us not just those three games of this season.

There are no signs that there is a footballer in there. Even Crouch was a much better footballer and he was brilliant either.

My point is that since Saturday you seem fixated on what you perceive to be negative aspects to our squad, Carroll and Adam. So its more an observation really.
