Difference between Carroll at the minute and early Chelsea Drogba is that the latter made space for other to run into and was excellent at holding the ball up. I tend to agree that he will improve and will be good for us - my slight concern is that we need another striker now.

If Bellamy comes I wonder if he will get more games than many think.

      But ......

Drogba came to the premiership when he was 24 and scored 10 league goals in 26 games.

Carroll was 21 and scored 13 goals in 26 games in his first premiership season.

WHen Drogba was that age he wasnt particularly good with 12 goals in 65 games for Le mans. It wasnt till Drogba turned 23 till he started scoring regularly.

Wayne Rooney was 19 when he scored 17 goals in a season. So because Carroll is 22 he should already be scoring over 25 goals.

You really can't make comparisons like this. Lets just hope he comes good.

I think the point is that some players are late bloomers, but I think we all hope he comes good, although I think he is valuable to the team right now, his price tag is just getting in the way.

                      Is Bellamy still fast?

At the moment Carroll is causing us two problems:

                      1. His overall play is subpar, and moves often break down around him/doesn't get into position to finish them off/takes wrong option.

                      2. When he's on the field we hoof it more because of his height and lack of mobility/awareness compared to Suarez. Even with his height he's not causing enough anxiety for defenders in the box considering the quality balls we are now getting in.

Got caught flat on his feet with one brilliant cross from Downing not long after coming on.
At least this time, he held his hands to his head, and didn't winge at his team-mate (very annoying against Exeter the other night).
Said before the game by many and it still holds true....right know Kuyt and Suarez are by far our best pairing up front.

Lot of times he is one step too slow and they need to wait until he gets there and by the time he does that, the defense is firmly set and his chances of scoring are pretty slim.

His movement in the box needs to improve and he needs to be more aggressive.

His physical pre-dispositions are enormous and he's barely using any of them at this point.
He showed that yesterday, he could have a hatrick only he was to slow. Maybe it's a confidence thing with Carroll i'm not to sure but, he's got to pick his head up and get on with his game.

We've seen he has got the qualities to become a top class striker but now, it's time to make the next step up and to go on from here

The thing that worried my yesterday was his lack of movement, it was in such contrast to Suarez and Kuyt. With those two we had a very fluid attacking play and were able to create space, when Carroll cam on he didn't offer any kind of movement. Perhaps he is still injured or unfit and this is showing in his play.
