Must admit to being pleasantly surprised by Downing in friendlies so far.

My complaints have come because of his play, not because of who he is or where he is from..

Not so much bothered about the price. I've been saying it's wrong to judge Carroll on the fee, so the same has to apply to Downing.

He just hasnt had a positive impact for me. If we'd signed Matt Jarvis instead, i dont think we'd be noticing any real difference from what Downing's offering. And unlike Andy Carroll, Downing is meant to be the finished article. That's why it's so disappointing.

So that's 6 key metrics for wide players and Downing wins 4-2 including 3 most important ones.
And considering Riera was in the best*#LFC*side for 20 years they can only paint Downing in a good light.

I would have said Riera was more impressive than Downing. But those figures would indicate otherwise

riera was about the least impressive cog in that machine though. he did a job, he didn't drive the team on. if downing's numbers were comparable to steveie g's when he played on the right, that would be something.

Take them stats away. Downing has a 0% cross completion since every cross hits the first man.

In the rare occasion that he has created a chance, obviously not from a cross, it's been a poor chance from 6 yards out.
