Totally agree mate.Originally posted by DJS View PostI totally agree mate. I'm just saying that the same thing would've happened, but to a lesser extent, if UEFA had allocated fairly.
Put it another way - if UEFA had given us the maximum that they realistically could (Let's even say 30k) and 30k had legitimately got in.
The remaining 20k or so would've still contained some who would've tried to force their way in. In this example, UEFA have done all they could and would've been blameless, yet the danger would still have existed.
In that instance whose fault is it? Not UEFA's.
Those who did that would've done so regardless, because they simply dont care about anyone but themselves. And forgetting the wrongs of UEFA, which i agree on, that cant be excused mate.
No matter what way you do the maths, you simply can't satisfy the demand. **** me, 50,000 people were out there - how many more would have loved to have travelled but didn't want to risk it without a ticket. Even if they gave us all 60,000 tickets I guarantee it wouldn't have satisfied demand and you would still have had a black market/forgeries/people charging the gates.Quote of the year :

Alun, people like Sony and other sponsors only pay out at the start of the deal, on the understanding and agreement that they get x number of tickets.Originally posted by alunevans View PostWhy only 25k? Where do the other 13k go to?
Besides, Milan sent a load of their 17k back so why would they need 25k?
I don't know how many they sent back but lets say it was 4k then that gives us 29,000 tickets for a start.
That's not a bad beginning really.
Once this is agreed, UEFA cant go back on it mate.
We benefit from that indirectly when the UEFA prize money rolls in.
Cant have it both ways.

not at all, you're talking out of deference to UEFA's right to build a black market instead of looking after the fans. i for one can't understand it. not even with my head.Originally posted by fredo View PostYes he sure is if he ever said that, or he bloody knows **** all of it all. Btw, he's one of those 'corporate ******s' as you labelled them.
Yep, I think it's a dead end on that issue, because you're still talking out of your anger instead of using your head.
if you want unsafe conditions then create a tout's paradise.
even on the issue of segregation it makes no sense. imagine a lpool v man u final last night.
there would have been liverpool fans sat next to man u fans because they would have been bought through the touts of the "football family" and not through their clubs.
its time you used your head fredo and thought this through instead of giving uefa a blank cheque. you just don't know what you're on about here mate.

Yes, but the police 'let them in' in because they were causing a crush in the first place. So it is the 'average joe's' fault. They are the 'cause' in this situation.Originally posted by SCOUSERTOMMY View Postmate, the police started letting people in, with or without a ticket, when does that become the fault of average joe looking for a ticketQuote of the year :

It doesnt mate.Originally posted by SCOUSERTOMMY View Postmate, the police started letting people in, with or without a ticket, when does that become the fault of average joe looking for a ticket
The blame lies in several places. UEFA arent blameless by any means, neither are the Greek authorities. But our fans werent either.

anyone organising any event would sensibly organise it based on the requirements of the people who want to attend.Originally posted by sean_lfc View PostI tend to agree. What many fail to see is that we're an exceptional club with exceptional fans which demands an exceptional ticketing policy. There aren't many clubs which have such a dedicated fan base as ours and this demands an exceptional way of dealing with the 'problem'.
except uefa of course.
for ****s sake, i organise my gigs more professionally than they organise european cup finals. its crazy.

If they give us 30 and milan 30, milan send 15 back say, and they give them to us then we'd have 45k ticketholders in at face value and hardly any problem.Originally posted by DJS View PostI totally agree mate. you have to organise major events with the requirements of those wanting to attend in mind or you will get mayhem.
its really very simple.

Sorry about thatOriginally posted by dom9 View PostWhat a depressing thread.

Then lets not have it both ways. Lets just run it for the fans. Besides, advertisers surely pay for advertising. Would they REALLY not sponsor the European Cup final if we said "you get 4 tickets for it".Originally posted by DJS View PostAlun, people like Sony and other sponsors only pay out at the start of the deal, on the understanding and agreement that they get x number of tickets.

I reckon they would?
What do Cadbury's get for sponsoring Corrie. A seat at the studio. Or just the exposure.
Why should footy be any different.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

is rightOriginally posted by alunevans View PostWhy don't you all shut the **** up until you know the facts.
Is the lad with a valid ticket who wasn't allowed in scum?
How many here went to Athens seeking a ticket because UEFA gave us none. How many who were still without one would have gone to the stadium to find one.
Grow the **** up you lot, yiz are doing my head in with your high and mighty bollocks.'Of course I didn't take my wife to see Rochdale as an anniversary present.
It was her birthday.
Would I have got married during the football season ?
Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves.'
