    its really very simple.
Come off it mate, at what point in time will the returned Milan tickets become available? Cutting it all a bit fine.

And they cant provisionally offer us 45k on the basis that Milan would probably return tickets. Secondly, what about segregation?

Finally, as ive said before, sponsorship money is agreed in the beginning, based on several things, including tickets for the money backers.

If UEFA had tried to only make 3k available to the sponsors etc, how many would've done the deal to sponsor it still?

Like i said, we get all the prize money and TV money - it has to come from somewhere and those who supply it dont do so for nothing.

      I reckon they would?

What do Cadbury's get for sponsoring Corrie. A seat at the studio. Or just the exposure.

Why should footy be any different.
Cant talk in 'shoulds' mate, that's how it is. They WILL want tickets to use for taking clients and whatever. That's how it is and they'd certainly negotiate lower value deals were they not to get the tickets.

I'm just talking in fact mate, it shouldnt be that way, but it is. One of the factors in getting the sponsors' money IS giving them tickets.

And as for doing it just for the fans, well that kind of money is what makes it possible for top stars to be signed.

Exactly. It's not like all the sponsors are going to run off and cry and we'll have a sponsor-less competition. There will always be sponsors who would sponsor the final - without a doubt.
But having one THIRD of the tickets going to people who have nothing to do with the actual 22 players on the field is not right. It won't change, but it's out of order. When will it stop? 50% in 5 years time? Soon they'll be exhibiting the Final solely to corporations as a dinner party? Or what?

disco, its so hypothetical, people with tickets arriving late were also involved, people with unsuspecting forgeries also were caught up. one thing i do know, is that you and uefa have found someone to blame and we will never know the true amount of people without tickets that actually got into the ground.

Well I am fairly sorry. It's a worthwhile debate, but it's ****ing depressing. I hate Uefa and I hate it when people act without giving a **** about others. Shows what society is like

OK, seriously, it's hard to know what to make of it when you weren't there. No-one comes out of it* with much credit.

              * By "it" I mean the ticket/trouble issue, not the discussion on here though that would probably be true as well.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I think the size of the operation caught them out totally. Certainly on our side of things anyway.

I reckon loads. I'd want to sponsor it if I was a major company. The TV exposure is frightening. And so that's what I'd buy.

One could allocate tickets based on away support in the competition perhaps and then ration it accordingly.

Most commercial organisations will use some form of market research when distributing goods. If everyone else can do it, I'm sure football can manage a sensible allocation based on expected support.

Well, that's ultimately UEFA's role, not mine or yours, but yes that would help if we could come out with a better solution.

As regards to allocation, it would be virtually impossible to evaluate how much we would need simply because we are the most (if not one of the most) popular clubs in the world, so supporters could be coming in from everywhere.

UEFA played it right by signalling from the off that there would be no more than 17,00 tickets available. It's simple really.

It's always poor old Jim who gets the blame. Quite right too in my book.

I'd prefer lower prize money if thats what it took. They'd still sponsor it in my view. If they sponsored it for a bit less and that let 15,000 extra fans in then thats a price well worth paying as far as I'm concerned.
