I think you, as perhaps I did, are making too sweeping a statement.

For better or for worse, I currently live in Lahndahn. I am surrounded by people of all nationalities. By and large, where I live, we all seem to rub along together quite successfully.

I don't know any xenophobes. I do know people who have expressed concerns about levels of immigration to this country - are they xenophobic?

Ever been on an isolated building site where there's no machinery or building above waist hight - and had to wear a high visibility thingy and a hard hat?

PC has many forms, you chose xenophobia, there are many other examples.

You get the impression that this Suarez thing could be seismic.

I hope it will be...Evra needs to be chopped off at the knee. It's all so wrong - so far.

It's essential that Louis appeals, but it might get a bit bloody.

Pepe Reina didn't pull any punches afterwards with his assessment of the way Suarez has been treated. Worth a look on Echo site from 8am.

They said on Sky (during the match) that his lawyer/agent has said this, but the club have said that the position hasn't changed and they will wait and see what the report says.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

The written judgment explaining the findings of the Independent Commission, which issued the severe punishment against the South American for racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra, is not likely to be published until mid-January.

                What a complete farce.

And the whole thing feels very uncomfortable to me
I think this is the problem, presumably they will have to have translated what Suarez said into English, given that there is no equivalent phrase in English, makes the whole thing messy, as is often the case the literal translation is not appropriate. Presumably the FA will have to include the translation in the report to justify while they feel it is racist. Presumably any appeal will question the translation / interpretation of what was said.

As this is potentially such a subjective issue Do we know if the appeal be heard by the same panel or a different one?

I think Chrono mentioned earlier that this debacle will bring Suarez closer to us, and after the support that he's received over the last 24 hours I completely agree.

Is there another club in the world where he'd have received such incredible support from the players, management and fans? Like **** there is.

So Suarez is going to get a bit booed and painted as a ******* from now on eh? Well doesn't that happen already? **** the FA, **** United and **** the English media. I think he's just found out what an incredible club he's joined. He won't run away now, it's not in his make up. He'll revel in it.

When they say published is that in the public domain or that's when they'll be released to the club, because if it's the latter that's a disgrace.

Having just read the article it's suggesting that the report won't be made available to the club until the middle of January. That is ****ing disgraceful.

IMO they should have only announced the result when they were able to release the evidence. They have totally hung Luis out to dry here. They have labelled him a racist and left him open to all kinds of abuse on the basis of a highly questionable body of evidence which they aren't going to release yet. Whether done deliberately or not this is an awful way to handle things. I'm really angry about this
