Not sure Klopp can turn it around with these midfielders.
Most of them dont have the legs now, and its only going to get worse as the season goes on.
Im actually a bit worried about it.
I just cannot fathom why we did not bring in a midfielder in the window. 40m for Gakpo, a player that may not play if everyone is fit... Perhaps he was a replacement for Firmino, but we could.have deferred until the summer.
It seems pretty obvious this team wont make the champions league next year.
I think we could easily finish bottom half.
The only player who gives me any real hope is Diaz and maybe Jota coming back, as they can shoot a bit better... But even then the players behind cant press properly. I dont see us turning this around in any meaningful way. The midielders we do have are tired, and will be more prone to injury. Perhaps they know this and why they are not pressing as hard.
I dont wanna blame Klopp, but this problem has been coming for ages, so much so that even I could see it. With a stat led analysis, he should have been more aware than anyone else.
It was more than evident durimg the second half of last season. The intensity was not quite there (understandable), but the lack of options in midfield meant we were stuck with the same three players. The same three that we had at the start of this season when Naby did Naby.
We have had many chances to address this and focused 100m on players who (in my opinion) are not good enough to be in the first 11, and in a position we are loaded with exciting youngsters. 3 new strikers and a bumper Salah contract. An emergency loan for the creaking midfield (who obviously got injured).
Im worried that a defeat away at Wolves could lead to Everton taking the points... I think the press will then turn on Klopp, putting pressure on him and FSG. I bet the players are already feeling it.
Of course, spanking Evwrton could be the release valve we need, but they will be up for it, and have the energy to cause us problems.
