I don't think the same about Nunez, I was hoping he'd come on but I can't really see it at the moment.
Exactly right on Jota, some people also criticise him technically but he’s very good technically even if his concentration on the first touch let’s him down sometimes.

      433, or 343...

When we played 433 at out best we were great. We had flying wingbacks who could defend, vvd in cheat mode was a machine and a midfield that had a peak fabinho to tidy up.
Our midfield weakness was covered by the wingers and our defence.
But until this window, our midfield has been terrible, let's not dig up the decaying corpses to have a new postmortem. This has put more pressure on our defence and they have been mostly poor too. The wing backs are much less reliable, especially trent and his curly wig.

The new midfield signings of Macalister and Szoboszlai will give us the mobility and ball winning we have been severely lacking, and maybe we will see Thuram come is as a new DM to further shore things up.
This will mean we are no longer so reliant on our wing backs for creating chances.
We have flirted with a back three and it wasn't so bad. Vvd covering the middle, Robbo on the left and Konate on the right. It works OK with Konate on the right as he has great recovery pace and strength, but if he is unfit we might struggle with Matip getting dragged out wide.
The back three experiment wasn't too bad, even with a dysfunctional midfield.
It could be so much better with midfielders who can actually run and cover the space.
All too often our midfield has been invisible and opposition has played through us like we were fielding traffic cones!
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

With the 2 midfield signings we have made so far I can't see us going 433, you are asking alot of the one DM, not sure Fabinho or Henderson are up to it, unless we are bringing in a new first choice DM I think we are all in on the new formation.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I can only find this from Klopp about the new system long-term. There are other quotes about bringing things forward that'd been planned for next season, but that was in relation to training (not in this piece).

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Klopp was asked whether it was his plan to keep Alexander-Arnold in midfield whenever possible.

“I think so. Long term, we will see what we can do,” the manager replied.

“It depends on the new players we bring in and who can play in different positions, that’s clear, but it suits him extremely well.

“I think the chance he set up for Darwin was, again, a very, very special ball to play there [and] he’s, defensively, extremely strong.”

“We have to adapt still to the formation,” Klopp admitted.

“I think in the last game we struggled a bit [behind Trent]. [But] it’s not about him, he cannot be everywhere.

In the first moment when we lose the ball, for example, in the counter-press, of course he has to stay in the centre.

“That means Ibou or whoever plays that position has to cover the space behind him. We were a bit passive there in the last game.

“But apart from that, Trent played now pretty much all minutes since six, seven weeks in this super-intense period, with games every three days.

“And for that, it’s outstanding what he’s doing.”

Probably the most sensible/balanced poster on the site

Hope we don't go 433. Also not sure about Trent's 'new role'. Would rather something like 3 CBs and Trent and Robbo allowed to attack out wide. 3421?? but fluid/flexible.

              It'll surely be 3-box-3 won't it....3-2-2-3.

              Something like

              Alisson

              Konate
              VVD
              New CB/Robbo

              Trent
              Fabinho

              Szoboszlai
              Mac Allister

              Salah
              Gakpo
              Diaz

Yep this. What we saw in the run in of last season.
The signings we’ve made and the targets we’re linked to point to this too.

I'm really not convinced with Robbo as a CB (position) and Trent as a CM (game intelligence). If that's the plan, wouldn't it make sense to sell both (big money) and buy better players for those positions?

Well I think we'll be buying a left sided CB, and I don't agree about Trent, not as a kind auxiliary/hybrid midfielder with another 3 class acts alongside him in the middle of the park.

Hope you're right and I'm very wrong . I like Trent (and Robbo).

Robbo potentially being marginalised by this potential new shape/new CB is gonna be interesting. Wonder how he'll deal with it...also Buzzo

                            Don’t go there

I think we may end up with a ‘horses **** horses’ approach with Robbo playing LB in the games where we can get at teams a bit more.

Robbo was flying in the las 2 games for Scotland.

One thing for sure is that this style of play doesn’t warrant Robbo and Tsimi - I expect us to sell Tsimi and buy and LB/LCB hybrid
