I think he's a decent footballer, but we need to work on the defensive side of his game, particularly if he is going to play in a back four. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

when his name was first mentioned i watched his youtube vids and could clearly see he occasionally went in for a good tackle, but often fluffed it, and this is in his highlights...Originally posted by danperkins View PostWith respect mate I watched him with Sevilla all last season & this year with us, he is a hardy little *******, loves a tackle ...so much in fact that he is rash & needs to stay on his feet more. Unfortunately the sae defensive lapses he had at Sevilla are still there at LFC.
he looked good bombing forward in the vids. for us he often bombs half way up the pitch but then finds he has nowhere to go. still living off the amazing goal he scored v spuds

Yeah he does often go to ground alright. I had an idea he'd be a wee bit suspect defensively but I did think he would be more progressive & get few more assists this season. I agree he is very hesitant going forward.Originally posted by baitman View Postwhen his name was first mentioned i watched his youtube vids and could clearly see he occasionally went in for a good tackle, but often fluffed it, and this is in his highlights...

It's hard to look good if you're playing along side that catastrophe
Lovren. He needs to improve though, he's got huge potential but I think he's struggled not knowing what position he's asked to play, is he a left back, wing back or a winger? That can't help getting any form of consistency. I wouldn't write him off yetKurtangled in the McFadden thread 16/01/08

Sorry mate that is tosh, Cole was never ever terrible defensively."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

i have to agree. often getting caught up the pitch and left arsenal wide open to the counter.Originally posted by Marvel View PostWhen he first came into arsenals team he would always be caught out of position but he was very good going forward. He became very good defensively when he went to Chelsea.removing all the weak links makes us stronger

I like wee Moreno, think he has all the makings of a good left back.
Don't think any single one of our defenders can be covered in glory this year though, says a lot when Can, who is a out of place midfielder who has also been quite hot and cold, is discussed by some as the best.
I think going forward Moreno has everything he needs, he's absolitely rapid and got a great cross on him, can pick a pass when he needs to too.
I think his main problem is his positioning and his tendency to be quite one footed, sometimes he can make up for being in a bad position with his pace but when he doesn't it can look bad (see Man City)
I think when our defence is more stable, and we actually play him at left back and not a defensive left winger we will see an improvement. And he is by far one of the least of our worries. The times they are a changin'.
