He has looked ropey alright but hopefully we'll see amuck better defender next year.

I think he's a decent footballer, but we need to work on the defensive side of his game, particularly if he is going to play in a back four.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

when his name was first mentioned i watched his youtube vids and could clearly see he occasionally went in for a good tackle, but often fluffed it, and this is in his highlights...
he looked good bombing forward in the vids. for us he often bombs half way up the pitch but then finds he has nowhere to go. still living off the amazing goal he scored v spuds

Yeah he does often go to ground alright. I had an idea he'd be a wee bit suspect defensively but I did think he would be more progressive & get few more assists this season. I agree he is very hesitant going forward.

It's hard to look good if you're playing along side that catastrophe
Lovren. He needs to improve though, he's got huge potential but I think he's struggled not knowing what position he's asked to play, is he a left back, wing back or a winger? That can't help getting any form of consistency. I wouldn't write him off yet

Ashley cole was terrible defensively but very good going forward when he started out. I'm sure Moreno will develop the same way, just needs time and a decent manager to bring it out of him.

Sorry mate that is tosh, Cole was never ever terrible defensively.

When he first came into arsenals team he would always be caught out of position but he was very good going forward. He became very good defensively when he went to Chelsea.

Can't say I watch a lot of other teams but I'd agree with Tee, Cole always seemed to be pretty good defensively as well as offensively. I don't think Mourinho would have been interested in him if he wasn't a decent defender at the time.

i have to agree. often getting caught up the pitch and left arsenal wide open to the counter.

I like wee Moreno, think he has all the makings of a good left back.

Don't think any single one of our defenders can be covered in glory this year though, says a lot when Can, who is a out of place midfielder who has also been quite hot and cold, is discussed by some as the best.

I think going forward Moreno has everything he needs, he's absolitely rapid and got a great cross on him, can pick a pass when he needs to too.

I think his main problem is his positioning and his tendency to be quite one footed, sometimes he can make up for being in a bad position with his pace but when he doesn't it can look bad (see Man City)

I think when our defence is more stable, and we actually play him at left back and not a defensive left winger we will see an improvement. And he is by far one of the least of our worries.

He'll do a De Boer, switch from LB to centre back. He's already better than Cole ever was.
