I think teams can carry a player in his position a bit more easily than a keeper or a striker, so I would agree. Still, he's gone from being a mediocre youngster to a proper player. Deserving all the credit he's getting.

Agreed. What's more impressive is how he has continued to develop - especially after he was booed coming onto the pitch. Shows a real strength of character. No reason to think he won't get better and better.

I'd like to see some improvement in his final ball, and it would be good if he could add a few more goals to his game. He has the potential to be the complete player

I'm not a huge or even medium fan, but I'm really hoping he gets back into our midfield asap. It hasn't been the same all summer.

I've said it before but I'll say it again - Lucas is boss, and is only going to get better

- is it any coincidence, pre season or not, that our best defensive midfielder has not been playing as we concede goals for fun?? People who criticize him don't realise the job that he does for the team until he's not playing.

Yesterday we were being linked with snatching Lucas Biglia before he signs for Arsenal as his replacement and today he's being linked with a move to Spurs?!?!?!

He will have a hugely important role this season, but I don't think he'll start the first game. Spearing had a great game against Sunderland last time out and he has a bit more match sharpness than Lucas right now. Lucas will come back in for the Arsenal game

Would you play Suarez against Sunderland?
I would, we can't afford a slow start by not choosing our best players.
With no European football they can recover and be managed mid week.

Both Lucas and Suarez have been playing in the summer so will be fit, they might need a game or 2 to get full sharpness.

Luis...not sure...it must be extremely tempting to start him, I highly doubt he's been boozing and munching burgers since Copa America so I guess with a week's training he should be match-fit.
