Just Wiki'd him and he's only 31. Should've had a few more years in Europe before going back to Brazil (although it's clear that he prefers the lifestyle over there).
Anyway, sorry to go off topic. Lucas.

I'd have defo took a chance, I remember loads saying he was "finished" and "**** now" in 09/10 yet he still got 15 goals and 15 assists in 40 games for Milan. Awesome player, should have gone to the Copa America.Originally posted by Lee View PostThanks mate.

Brazil has a growing economy and improving league. Given the boost it has given his career I think he probably made the right choice.Originally posted by Lee View PostThanks mate.

Lucas targets August repeat

Lucas Leiva believes Liverpool are in for another good month if they can replicate their excellent August form in September.
So far this season, the Reds have collected seven points from their opening three Barclays Premier League matches and also progressed into the third round of the Carling Cup while playing some eye-catching attacking football.
Stoke City provide Kenny Dalglish's side with their next test on Saturday afternoon, followed by a trip to White Hart Lane to take on Tottenham Hotspur the following weekend.
Although Lucas knows both games will present their own difficulties, he's eager for Liverpool to pick up where they left off prior to the international break and start September with a bang.
"We know we have two away games now and it's really important to get points in the away games," he told Liverpoolfc.tv. "It always makes a big difference at the end of the season.
"We have to keep going and try to play well - the same way we have in the first three games. If we do, I am sure we will get points and we'll have another good month.
"We know how difficult it is to play against Stoke, especially on their own ground. They have a physical game and big players, and their set pieces are always really difficult to defend. We have to go there ready to fight, try to play football and win.
"A lot of big clubs go there and can't win, but it will be a very good test for us to see how we cope with this type of team."
Much like Liverpool, Stoke bolstered their ranks over the course of the summer - most notably in attack, where Cameron Jerome and ex-Red Peter Crouch were recruited.
"They also have (Kenwyne) Jones who can challenge in the air and is really strong," added Lucas.
"Crouchy is very good in the air and with the ball at his feet. He can make things happen. And we know Jerome was an important player for Birmingham.
"They will probably be very excited playing their first game at the stadium for their fans, so we have to be aware of that."
Rory Delap's long throw ins are one of Stoke's most potent attacking weapons, however reports suggest the 35-year-old could miss the game due to injury.
Nonetheless, Lucas is well aware the Potters have plenty more ammunition in their armoury.
The Brazilian said: "He is an important player for them, especially with his throw ins, but we know (Robert) Huth can do a similar type of job as Delap.
"If he doesn't play they will probably miss him. But they are not just about long throw ins.
"They have good players, including a couple that played here in the past. They have quality and we have to make sure we prepare well and are ready to battle."
The trip to the Britannia Stadium could provide Sebastian Coates and Craig Bellamy with their first appearances in Liverpool jerseys since their transfers to Anfield last week.
Lucas believes the pair will prove to be fine acquisitions to the squad and is confident they'll have no problem adjusting to life on Merseyside.
"Bellamy has been here for a year before, so he knows what the club is about," he said.
"Coates is a young player who has a lot of potential. He has come to strengthen the squad and give us more quality in defence. We already have three very good players (in that position) and along with Danny Wilson, who is a young player as well, he will add a lot of strength and quality.
"We are here to help him to settle, in the same way we helped Luis (Suarez). I don't think Craig will have any problems in settling into the city and at the club as well."Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

That article is a bit daft. To say that it was Lucas's persistence that made him in to the player he is is wrong, it was Rafa's insistence on persevering with him. One way or another, I'm glad he didOriginally posted by Reece View Post

Lucas Leiva: "I am really looking forward to being part of the club's history"

When Sambafoot's Sean Mullan spoke to Lucas Leiva last week, the player discussed his experiences at Liverpool Football Club so far, but also of his burning desire to write a new page in the club's history.
It has not always been easy for Lucas at Anfield, with the former-Grêmio man the target for much criiticism in his first year or two in England.
"I didn’t think about that," says the Seleção star, looking back at the period. "I just thought about improving as a player, tried to work hard, be a better player, and adapt to the style of English football.
"Of course it took a while, but I really feel comfortable now and I just try not to talk about it too much."
Lucas was voted Player of the Season at the club in 2010/11 and is clearly very proud of his own performances, but admits that the team as a whole would like to be doing better.
"We would have liked to have started better," Lucas continues. "We would like to be in a better position.
"I think we had a few very good games where we played really well, but unfortunately we have lost a few points, especially at home.
"We had new players who came at the beginning of the season, so we are quite a new team, and hopefully in the next few games and across the season we will finish on a high.
"I’m really happy with the way I’m playing and the role I have in the team.
"When I came to Liverpool, I was always looking to be an important player and I think step-by-step I’m getting there."
Lucas was also quite clear about the expectations of supporters at a club like Liverpool. The fans want trophies and require European football, something Liverpool missed out on for this season.
"When you play for Liverpool, you are always looking to win titles.
"It’s been four or five years since Liverpool last won a trophy, so the next team that achieves that and wins a trophy will be in the history of the club.
"I am really looking forward to doing that and hopefully it will be soon.
"I think every player would like to be involved in European competition. I think it’s important for the club and for the players as well.
"The atmosphere is always very good, especially at Anfield, where the European games are always special."
At just 24, Lucas is remarkably experienced for his age and is already in his fifth season at the club. But, the midfielder does not see the need for change any time soon.
When I came, I didn’t imagine that I would stay here for seven or eight years," he began.
"But if I finish my current contract I will have been here about that long, so why not more?
"It’s just a question of being comfortable and happy, and if the manager is happy with you, and has you in his plans.
"I don’t like to be moving too much, and I’m really happy at the moment, but in football every week is different, so you have to see what happens.
"I’m really happy, and can’t see why I wouldn’t stay here for many more years."Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club
