When we had Hyypia then the defensive midfielder didn't had to be a great passer. Hyypia took care of that himself. We could use Masch as the destroyer. Now we as you point out must use Lucas/Adam much more when Agger is out injured. We don't have the option not to use the defensive midfielder without having a central defender that can take care of that himself. It limits our options and is very easy to set up a tactic against. Mark Lucas and Adam and the only option we got left is the hoof option or pass it back to Reina.Originally posted by dww View PostI think this is a big part of it but I also think in general that Skrtel is quite reactive. If encouraged to play the ball out he is quite good at it but with Carragher being such a dominant personality in the team I think he just follows his lead and adopts a more safety first approach.
I'm beginning to worry that I'm developing an Arn like criticism complex but I do feel that the Adam/Lucas axis is in part to blame. Defenders who are not great at passing need multiple easy options and they rarely seem to have them (I guess you could also blame the wide players but I think that is a secondary problem).
That is what our opponents do when Agger isn't playing. When he plays then they don't mark Lucas and Adam nearly as much because their is no point doing it.
At the moment Agger is the key if we want to dominate games.Stop the cyberhate

Yeah I dont think they got the answers they were looking for on some stuff ie Rafa.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostEnjoyed Carra when he was talking but those other two make me want to smash things up. Proper little boys club. **** off.
Really don't want Carra ingratiating himself further with those bellends.
Every question had a snide, xenophobic tone to it. Though funnily enough they seemingly didnt have time to question him on Roy Hodgson!

And then let him host a show out of his restaurant.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostYes. Called him a bottler over his international retirement.
No doubt that Carra is sucking up to the media. I don't blame him at all, it'll either be his next employer or if he stays in football as a coach / manager he'll want the press on his sideThe King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Carragher - "It's a form of cheating having a foreign manager in charge of England".
Jamie Carragher insists the next manager of England should be English – and believes it’s a form of cheating to have a foreign boss in charge.
Fabio Capello is set to stand down after next summer’s Euro 2012 finals, assuming England qualify and, Harry Redknapp aside, there are not numerous home-grown candidates to replace him.
But the Liverpool ace believes the FA should appoint someone from these shores and not look overseas once more to replace the Italian.
He told the Keys and Gray Show: “The next manager of England should be English. I’ve got nothing against Capello, I went to the World Cup and got to know him, but that’s not what international football is.
“It’s like saying if our keeper’s not good enough, we’ll go and get Buffon from Italy. It’s a form of cheating in international football and it’s a bit embarrassing.
“It’s different for developing countries in Africa and elsewhere, who are trying to build the game up but, for England, such a big football nation, I don’t think we should have a foreign manager. Just because it didn’t work out with Steve McClaren, it didn’t mean we had to go for a foreign manager. We should have gone for the next best Englishman.”

Carragher admits, however, that overseas managers have an aura about them their English counterparts don’t have, because bosses in this country are not getting the opportunities to test themselves with the biggest clubs.
He added: “If every club had an English manager, someone would have to win the league! Someone would have to win the FA Cup! And then they’d accumulate these trophies.
“Capello had an aura and presence that maybe McClaren didn’t have. And it was the same with the likes of Benitez and Houllier at Liverpool, and Mourinho at Chelsea.
“With their CVs, they’ve all got something about them and have won big trophies. So does that mean English managers need to go abroad?
“Chelsea have appointed a 33-year-old manager, Andre Villas-Boas, this summer. Years ago someone like David Moyes would have got that job.
“That still happens in Italy and Spain - Rafa Benitez went from Tenerife to Valencia - but that doesn’t happen in England anymore.”

It is a form of cheating no doubt about it.
Qatar will probably offer a lot of young talents a lot of money to play for them the coming years.
A lot of young talents will suddenly have Qatar passports. Is that cheating?
It is already happening in other sports like Athletics.Stop the cyberhate
